Quick Quotes
Q. How much does it mean to be here to witness that, her qualifying for the Hall of Fame?
KARRIE WEBB: Firstly, I think it's amazing. You know, she's got all three colors of the medals now. I mean, I think, yeah, you know, just to separate that for the moment that it is, I think that's an incredible achievement.
And then obviously for that to be -- I didn't realize that that was an official LPGA event, so for that to be her point to get into the LPGA Hall of Fame, it's amazing. She's had an amazing career, and I think she's been threatening to be done when she hits that milestone but I hope that's not the case. She's brought a lot to the game.
It's great that she's part of a very fine it club in the history of the LPGA. She's definitely a deserving member of it.
Q. Do you remember when you first became aware of this little teenager out of New Zealand?
KARRIE WEBB: Yes, I think she was only like 14 or 13. She played a practice round in front of me at the Australian Open many, many years ago, and I got introduced to her then.
So yeah, and then she started beating up on us as an amateur winning two Canadian Opens in a row. I mean, she's still so young but she's been around so long.
Q. And a testimony to that is she has maintained; there's been some dips and whatever but that happens in any career. To start that young and now with this achievement, it's pretty rare.
KARRIE WEBB: Yeah, for sure. Her career is rare, right. Not many people win at 15. Her career is definitely very rare, and the fact that she's had not just -- she's had some pretty big dips in her career and she's managed to reinvent herself and come back and win again. That's a testament to her will and strength of mind to do that.
Q. It's probably at the latter stage of your career, but were you ever in the hunt or around her or played with her late in a round?
KARRIE WEBB: I'm sure I was but it wasn't very often. I don't recall like being in the hunt with her. Played with her a few times.
Q. Probably the first Kiwi in the Hall of Fame?
KARRIE WEBB: Yeah, by far. So yeah, that's an awesome achievement for New Zealand, as well. Puts them on the map, and she's been putting them on the map from a very early age.
