WOMEN'S OLYMPIC GOLF COMPETITION

August 10, 2024

Celine Boutier

Paris, France

Le Golf National

Quick Quotes

Q. How would you sum up your overall Olympic experience?

CELINE BOUTIER: It was kind of two-folded. I think it was a great experience from the spectator standpoint and everything went so smooth. The course was incredible. The amount of fans that showed up was also incredible. So on that end, it was just the best. I don't think we could have expected any better.

Personally on the golf course, it was a little bit more difficult for me the last three days. So a little bit disappointed with that. But we try to focus on the positive.

Q. What are your thoughts on your round just now?

CELINE BOUTIER: Definitely not very happy. Could have gone a lot better. I feel like I definitely had a lot of chances. I could have turned things around and I never really was able to do that.

So a little bit frustrated on that end. But that's part of life, I think. I think this course is very difficult and I should have definitely taken advantage of better shots today. But it happens.

Q. Have you ever had an experience like this where you've had so much support? What has it been like this week?

CELINE BOUTIER: Yeah, it's been incredible to experience. I think definitely maybe Solheim Cup would be comparable but it has never been like me specifically or like French players. So it definitely feels more special to be here and to have all the French fans supporting me. So it's definitely hard to describe but very, you know, emotional to have them so passionate and so positive towards my performance.

Q. The buildup has been building up for obviously months now. Obviously expectation on your shoulders. How have you actually -- has it exceeded expectations, atmosphere, the crowd support, the opportunity to represent your country on home soil?

CELINE BOUTIER: Yeah, I think it was definitely a lot bigger than I envisioned. I obviously knew the Olympics was going to be huge.

But I think being able to experience the men's event first was definitely helpful just to be able to adjust the expectations that I had on the tournament. It was definitely a lot bigger than I thought, and then this week was also huge. So it was fun to see.
