U.S SENIOR WOMEN'S OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP

August 3, 2024

Juli Inkster

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA

Fox Chapel Golf Club

Press Conference

THE MODERATOR: We welcome Juli Inkster after the third round of the U.S. Senior Women's Open, and even par-71 today, 2-under for the championship. Your thoughts about today's round?

JULI INKSTER: I played very well again today. I think I hit 17 greens again. I think I had three three-putts. Hit the ball extremely close and just didn't make anything. Just extremely frustrating.

But I've got one more day, and hopefully I can put it together.

Q. What was one of the challenges with the three-hour rain delay today?

JULI INKSTER: Not really. Even though we're not really used to it, it was no big deal. I found a nice quiet spot right by the popcorn machine, so it was pretty good.

Q. It looked like a lot of the players, at least on TV, were having trouble getting the ball to the hole, but in your case it didn't look like you were having trouble getting the ball to the hole on the greens.

JULI INKSTER: No, I was just having trouble getting the ball in the hole. That was my trouble today. I thought my speed was pretty good.

Just having a hard time reading these greens.

Q. Tomorrow you're chasing; do you change your strategy on this golf course, or is this a golf course you can go after?

JULI INKSTER: Well, if I just hit the ball the same way I hit it the last two days and make a few putts, I'm going to be fine. I'm not going to change anything. I feel really good about my swing. I've just got to make some putts.

Q. For you there were a couple bogeys and birdies each today. How were you able to maintain your focus, especially through a couple of those challenging bogey holes?

JULI INKSTER: Yeah, those are two three-putts. I went from birdie and I missed probably both of them probably two-footers coming back, kind of sliders. I just tried to hit as many greens as I can and get the ball close and give myself some shots.

Q. You settled down after that sequence and you birdied 13 and obviously you made a lot of pars coming in.

JULI INKSTER: I mean, yeah. It's just the same of golf. I've just got to keep plugging ahead.

Q. How do you stay patient?

JULI INKSTER: I'm not patient at all. I think that's what hurts me. It just frustrates me that -- I don't know. If I could just make a few putts, I would be up there.

Q. I know you want to win this one because you've been close a couple of times. How do you stay in the moment without worrying about that?

JULI INKSTER: You know, I can't think about that. The last two days I haven't really put myself in a chance to do that. I have to just kind of go out there tomorrow and just play the best I can, and come Monday, it'll be Monday.
