WOMEN'S OLYMPIC GOLF COMPETITION

August 3, 2024

Lydia Ko

Paris, France

Le Golf National

Quick Quotes

Q. We just had you on the broadcast but you've officially touched down in Paris. What was it like getting the lay of the land of Le Golf National?

LYDIA KO: I'm here early. I think it's the first time I've been here on the Saturday of the men's competition. So Saturday vibes and Sunday vibes, we all know is like a little different but it's just great to see so many people out here. It feels quiet because I think the property is so big and there's just people -- like a lot of people spread out but it was great to see Foxy finish up and see Dan earlier today as well.

I think it's like a slow way in to welcoming myself into the games. This doesn't happen every day. It happens, you know, every four years. To play my third Olympics and definitely cool. Time has gone by really quick to think that I'm playing in my third.

Q. Talking with Ryan and Dan, it's only quick hellos, but do you plan on talking to them?

LYDIA KO: We are planning on going to dinner and having some Korean food in Versailles. Korean food never leaves. So I think we'll probably catch up more then. Foxy just got off the golf course and he had a good day today, as well, and I kind of picked their brains in how to maneuver my way around the course.

But I think for the most part, I don't get to really see them very often, so it's just nice to catch up with them.

Q. The crowds, you talked about the property being spread out and that you're not hearing it or seeing it. What are you seeing it when you went on the platform?

LYDIA KO: It's honestly really cool. We don't really get this kind of a big turnout week-in, week-out. Some of our big ones, we get it but you know, to kind of have this kind of a turnout, I think they said like 30,000 today, which is like crazy but when you're in one spot, you don't think there's that many people but you look around and there's people everywhere. They are here for one reason, and it is to probably support their countrymen and see the biggest sporting event; and hopefully all of us players, whether it's the men or the women, can put on a good show for them and make their ticket worth it.
