Quick Quotes
Q. Here with Jenny thin after her second round at the Portland Classic. Jenny, bogey-free today; tons of birdies. How easy is the course playing would you say?
JENNY SHIN: I mean, yeah, I shot 7-under and look at the leaderboard and there is probably 20 other 7-unders. That's what you got to do, right?
We have so many short clubs into a lot of the holes. Par-5s are all reachable. It's very different than last week at the Canadian Open when you had to be a little bit more strategic and you had longer clubs coming in.
But, yeah, when you got short clubs coming in like that you just got to make the birdies.
Q. How has the setup maybe suited your game? Anything about this course suit you particularly you think?
JENNY SHIN: No. I think I'm just hitting it bit better than the years before and I'm making the putts that I haven't made in the years before, so that's really the only difference.
Q. Yeah, obviously we talked a little yesterday about coming off of a really good finish. Is there anything in particular you've been working on in your game that you feel has come together in the past couple weeks?
JENNY SHIN: Yeah. I mean, mentally things have gotten a bit easier. Like I said, the putter change two weeks ago has helped a ton.
Yeah, I mean, good shots, good putts, shoot low scores I guess.
Q. What did you change to if you don't mind?
JENNY SHIN: From a mallet to a blade.
Q. That's right.
JENNY SHIN: So big change. Yeah, it's been working so far.
Q. Does it suit your eye better you think, the blade?
JENNY SHIN: Yeah. I think I can line up to the ball is bit more square than the mallet.
Things changed. I used that mallet for two and a half years. When you look at something for so long every single day things start to become too comfortable, and I think I just needed a change.
Q. Last question: Going into moving day with a good spot up there on the leaderboard, what's it going to take on a moving day to maybe come out with a win on Sunday?
JENNY SHIN: I don't know. I mean, I haven't taken a look at the leaderboard to see who is up there, what the scores are required.
But I think two 7-unders will guarantee a win, but you just never know. I can see 11-under coming out like it did last year. Greens are pretty soft. In the years past it was really firm so you couldn't really stop the ball on No. 18, but you can spin it back if you want to, if you had a short club in.
So really depends on the superintendent, how they would firm up the greens. If they're not, you would need to go pretty low.
