Q. How do you block out what it could mean now that you're in contention at the Olympics?

TOM KIM: Good question. I've actually responded to this a lot this week; so I already said it in my press conference. I'm just trying to focus on my game. I'm a competitor and we all play for the same thing. It's just golf. So I'm just trying to putt my head down and play.

Q. That was before it started, and now you're in contention halfway through.

TOM KIM: It's still the same thing.

Q. Can you just explain this piece of it to me? Every year you have to get your passport renewed; right?

TOM KIM: No.

Q. That's what I was told. If you haven't done your service after every year, it's a conditions of renewal.

TOM KIM: No. I actually don't know but I haven't renewed my passport. I'm valid for the next nine years.

Q. So when do you have to fulfill that? The number seems to float?

TOM KIM: I don't know. I wish I could tell.

Q. It's kind of a big deal?

TOM KIM: A hundred percent. Like I'm not trying to lie or anything like that. I really don't know.

Q. You haven't dug into it?

TOM KIM: Well, I've been over in the U.S. for so long, I just keep on going.

Q. Do they consider you -- because there's different classifications, right?

TOM KIM: I don't know. Again, I don't know. I'm not a politician. I'm so sorry (laughing).

Q. It affects your life.

TOM KIM: Well, I understand that but in I'm 22 and I still have a lot of years left.

Q. So you're not sweating it?

TOM KIM: Exactly.
