THE MODERATOR: Tough one out there today? How were you feeling out there on court?

ANGELIQUE KERBER: It was a tough one. Of course, I am a little bit disappointed because I was trying to go out there and win. But, yeah, it was not the result I was wishing for.

THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.

Q. I just wanted to ask you, if you don't mind, you have Marketa earlier came as defending champion and lost today. I just wondered how hard it is and how different is playing as the defending champion, how that makes things different as a player?

ANGELIQUE KERBER: Every year is different. You are always looking forward to play your best, and every match is different. I just try to go out there and to play good tennis, but yeah, it was not my day. Yeah, it is like it is.

Q. Did that change when you came back here a few years ago as the champion here and you were the player to beat? Did that change the dynamic a few years ago?

ANGELIQUE KERBER: A few years ago...

Q. Yeah.

ANGELIQUE KERBER: I think every year is different. Of course, sometimes when you come back as the defending champion, it's different. If you come back after a long break or you play every year, so every year you cannot really compare to each other.
