THE CHAMPIONSHIPS

July 6, 2024

Elena Rybakina

Wimbledon, London, UK

Press Conference

E. RYBAKINA/C. Wozniacki

6-0, 6-1

THE MODERATOR: Tell me how you feel after that match.

ELENA RYBAKINA: Yeah, really happy with the way I played today. Very confident, and yeah, just pleased.

THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.

Q. 6-Love, 6-1 in 57 minutes. How do you feel your level is at compared to other Wimbledons? Your serve was incredible today.

ELENA RYBAKINA: Yeah, every day is different, of course, and the previous match I was not playing that good . So I actually didn't expect for myself such a clean match.

As I always say, every match gives confidence, and you feel better and better on the court. Also, I was lucky today to play on Court 1 with also roof because it was raining.

Yeah, today I think I was serving pretty well, and if I continue like this, I have all the chances to go really deep in the draw.

Q. And you've won 14 out of your last 15 matches here at The Championships. What differentiates your enjoyment of playing here compared to other slams?

ELENA RYBAKINA: Well, I think just the surface, of course, suits my game much more. Just with aggressive way that I play, it's definitely big advantage, the serve and everything.

So statistically it's quite impressive, and I'm really hoping to go as far as possible here again.

Q. At the beginning of the tournament you spoke about the fact that seven different women have won Wimbledon in the last seven Wimbledons and that maybe you would be a repeat performer. What are your thoughts right now about where your game is to go all the way, to win a second Wimbledon title?

ELENA RYBAKINA: Well, I think I have all the possibilities. I have shots and everything, but as I say, you never know how you, first of all, wake up in the morning and also depends on your opponent.

There is still a lot of good players. It's never easy. There is no easy matches. As always, I'm going to just focus match-by-match, but definitely I want to go far in this event.

Q. How often does your Championship here enter your mind, and when it does enter your mind, what affect does it have on you?

ELENA RYBAKINA: What exactly the...

Q. When you won the Championship here, how much do you think about it now, and what feeling does it give you when you think about it?

ELENA RYBAKINA: Well, it was mix of emotions, of course, when I won it in 2022. Of course, I know the path, and it gives more confidence because you know how it's going to look like if you are in the semis, if you go far.

But same time I try to forget about it because already few years past, and I need to focus on something which is happening now.

It's always tough matches, preparing for every opponent, and trying to take only positive from the winning The Championships. So, yeah, just really trying to do my best and hopefully go far.

Q. The other players don't have that experience that you do of holding that trophy. What sort of advantage do you think that gives you?

ELENA RYBAKINA: I think just experience and how it feels to be playing on Centre Court, on Court 1 when there is a lot of people, of course, and also I think if there is other players who played in other slam finals or anything like this, it just gives you experience. You kind of know what to expect if you go that far. So I think this is just the advantage.

Q. You mentioned a lot of tough opponents and players left in the draw. You're playing Kalinskaya next. You are a very tight head-to-head. What are your thoughts ahead of that match?

ELENA RYBAKINA: She's a very good player, and she's been playing this year pretty good. She's tough opponent. We played a couple of times. I can't remember now which one was the last one, but it's always tough. I think she's pretty confident now.
