L. MUSETTI/G. Mpetshi Perricard
4-6, 6-3, 6-3, 6-2
THE MODERATOR: How are you feeling right now?
GIOVANI MPETSHI PERRICARD: Yeah, it was a tough match for me. I was a little bit down physically today, but yeah, he did a good match. So congratulations to him. I have to improve for the next one, and I think I will be ready for the next time.
THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.
Q. We spoke in qualifiers about you coming to the net more, and you said that's something you're working on. So you came to the net 56 times today. Only winning 32 of the points there. Do you think it was something that Musetti did in those points? Could you have played them better? What are your thoughts on that?
GIOVANI MPETSHI PERRICARD: I mean, today wasn't my best day at the net, to be honest. I don't know why, but maybe it was because I was, as I said, down physically.
I don't know. He did some great passing shot, so it wasn't help me a lot. I don't know why I wasn't that good at the net.
Q. Happy birthday, by the way. Just today unlucky, obviously. I thought you played pretty well, but what was different to the meeting in Stuttgart because obviously you played Musetti in Stuttgart. I felt like today he played better. Did you feel like he upped his level today?
GIOVANI MPETSHI PERRICARD: Yes, yes. I mean, it's a different conditions. The grass is slower than Stuttgart. I was not in this shape in Stuttgart. Same for him. It was the first tournament on grass for him, and same for me. So it was a different match.
So I tried to put more pressure. Of course, at Stuttgart I let him play a lot. I tried to did that during the match, but I don't know. I thought after the first set wasn't that good, but not bad.
I said I took my chance at 3-3, 3-All, but I think I have to take my chance for the second, third, and fourth set, which I didn't do.
Q. So you're into the top 50 now in live rankings, so looking ahead to the US Open, you don't to have to play qualifying. Are you looking forward to playing the next Grand Slam?
GIOVANI MPETSHI PERRICARD: It's going to be my first Grand Slam in the draw with my ranking, so I'm very happy about it, excited.
Yeah, it's going to be a new opportunity for me. It's going to be a new chance to play a Grand Slam. I like the US Open. But yeah, I know what I can do. So we'll see. I think I'm going to be ready.
Q. Lots of French athletes have been speaking a lot about the election yesterday. I just wonder whether you've been following that and if you were able to vote?
GIOVANI MPETSHI PERRICARD: I'm here to play, so I'm not really interested about the election. It's not part of my job to talk about it, so I cannot do. I cannot talk about it.
