GENESIS SCOTTISH OPEN

July 11, 2024

Ludvig Aberg

North Berwick, Scotland

The Renaissance Club

Quick Quotes

Q. 66; what aspect pleased you the most?

LUDVIG Ã…BERG: I think what made me most pleased was off the tee because last couple days I've been working on a few things, and it's nice to see that I can do it.

So it was good, and obviously felt like I gave myself a lot of chances, especially back nine, and it was nice to see a few go in as well towards the end.

Q. You were incredibly unlucky on the 8th hole. Talk about that from your point of view.

LUDVIG Ã…BERG: It's just one of them, I felt like I hit a good shot. It was probably going to be, what, 12 feet, something like that where Collin was. You can't see the ball, or the flagstick from the fairway. We saw the ball shoot off to the right and I didn't really realise what it hit.

But yeah, it's just -- I've never seen it before. Probably not going to see it for a long time again but it's just one of them.

Q. You'll play your first Open Championship and first Olympics a few weeks after that. How excited about those opportunities?

LUDVIG Ã…BERG: Absolutely. The Open is a tournament I've watched for a very long time, especially the last time it was at Troon when Henrik won. That was a cool day for us watching. So it will be a very cool experience and looking forward to it a lot.

Q. Coming home in 30; an outstanding rally for you.

LUDVIG Ã…BERG: Yeah, definitely. Me and my caddie, Joe, we talk a lot that it's important to have aspects of acceptance and patience when you play these kind of golf courses.

Sure, would have wanted a few things go my way a little bit more on the front nine but there's nothing I can do about those things. Nice to finish the way we did and put ourselves in position.

Q. On 8, your ball lands right on top of Collin Morikawa's. I've seen lots of balls hit on green but yours hit directly. His ricochets 30 yards in one direction and yours 30 yards into the other. It's almost a blind shot into the green. Did you know what happened?

LUDVIG Ã…BERG: Yeah, I mean, you can't really see the bottom of the flagstick from the fairway. So I didn't see it. I thought I hit a decent shot, and we just saw the ball just go straight sideways. And I didn't really know what it did but then we kind of realised that's pretty much where Collin's ball was and then I saw his ball go that way. So it's just one of them -- I've never seen it before. Probably not going to see it for a long time again.

Q. Had a good chance of being a birdie but turns into a bogey. You handled it very well. I thought you were very level throughout the round.

LUDVIG Ã…BERG: Thank you. I guess I'll take that as a compliment. But yeah, once those things happen, I can't do anything about it. All I try to do is just make good swings, and I did. So that was -- checked that box. But obviously I would have wanted it to stay on the green but this time it didn't.
