Quick Quotes
Q. Bob, being from Texas and growing up playing in the wind, thoughts on how hard 18 is playing with this wind that we have today.
BOB ESTES: Well, yeah, with this wind, the north wind, the tee was -- and the hole was set up for a south wind with the tee just a few yards up in the back.
So obviously if they knew we were playing with the north wind, the tee would've been well up. Still give you a chance to drive it over the bunker.
Richard Bland is a long hitter and did carry the bunker and hit a really good one and didn't get over the bunker. Mine rolled to the edge.
Paul and I were trying to play to the left and put to much cut spin and ended up in the left side of the bunker.
Yeah, so it was almost a par-5 or really, really difficult long par-4. Yeah, you just can't hit it in that bunker.
You got to get over it if you can or play to the left of it and try to get something up on the green from much further away by playing away from the green at an angle to the left.
Q. Right. So Newport Country Club, one of the founding clubs the USGA. In your opinion, how is it stacking up as a championship venue all these years later?
BOB ESTES: Incredible. One of the best courses I ever played. Yeah, I would love to hopefully have another event here before I retire.
Q. What's next on the schedule for you?
BOB ESTES: We have the -- we have a week off and then the Kaulig Championship in a week and a half, so that's what is next for most of us.
