Quick Quotes
THE MODERATOR: Here with Ally Ewing, one half of Team Ping Pals. Jennifer had to catch a flight out of Detroit. Take us through the day, especially down the stretch as you and Ronni and Atthaya were kind of back and forth.
ALLY EWING: Yeah, we got off to a slow start, but we hung in there. It wasn't easy.
I think in these tournaments, if you get to hole 18 you have a chance to win the golf tournament or force a playoff. That's all you ask for.
Yeah, really it was a fun week with Jen, and it's hopefully something we can do again at the Solheim.
Q. You both mentioned that this is you guys' first time playing together, even at Solheim Cup. What did you learn about each other on and off the golf course this week?
ALLY EWING: Yeah, really similar games. I know Jen's game well. Great ball striker, drives it great, putts it great. It was just nice to team up with someone whose game you can trust. Alternate shot, I think we're by far a really, really, really good alternate shot team, and it just comes down to making a lot of birdies on best ball day and we just needed one more to get in a playoff, but yeah, it was a really fun week with her.
Q. You mentioned Solheim. How much did this week maybe invigorate or reignite the fire to get back on that team and take home the Cup, especially with it being in the States again?
ALLY EWING: Yeah, it's always there for me. I've said it, every time I'm asked about it, once you get on one team, you never want to miss another.
I think just as we get closer to September, the more great finishes that you can rack up, the better feeling that you have, and confidence leading into that week.
Q. For you specifically, a week off and then off to Evian. We're playing very, very good golf right now. Your fourth or fifth straight top-5 finish. What is it that's clicking right now and what will you take from this week into Evian?
ALLY EWING: Yeah, these three weeks have been a grind, but they've obviously been -- when you find yourself in contention, it's a mental and physical battle, so I'd definitely say I'm looking forward to a couple of days of rest. But the game feels really good.
The more I give myself opportunities to lift a trophy, the more I believe that I will. Like you said, my game feels really good. I'm looking forward to a week off and then taking it to Europe.
Q. Was it your idea to wear the Mississippi State colors today over the Wake colors?
ALLY EWING: Actually, no. We had a picture of our wardrobe that we did have, and Jen just happened to text, let's do blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, and I said, do you just want to leave the way that you've texted, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and she was like, yeah, sure, so it just so happened, get a little "Hail State" in there.
