WOMEN’S AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP

June 26, 2024

Annabelle Pancake

Hunstanton, England, United Kingdom

Quick Quotes

Q. What's it like just to be back after your great success last year getting to the final?

ANNABELLE PANCAKE: It's great to be back here. I love being here obviously. I love the style of golf. The people are great. The competition is fun. So I'm very excited to be back and just thankful to be here.

Q. You kept the form going to get through to stroke play.

ANNABELLE PANCAKE: It was a battle this morning. Conditions were definitely tougher especially the first round, but just to get through is a good accomplishment and to be in the middle of the pack is always nice, too.

Then this morning was good. It was back-and-forth but was able to stick it out to the end.

Q. Do you feel the lessons of Princes are helping you given what you went through last year?

ANNABELLE PANCAKE: Definitely. This is a little different because it's a little windier and I will say the greens to me feel a lot harder than Princes. But it was nice to get that preparation and the mindset of using different clubs around the green for sure.

Q. Obvious question, runner-up last year. Winner this year, is that the target?

ANNABELLE PANCAKE: You go into every tournament wanting to win obviously. But I'm just here to have fun and compete and try my best and glorify God, and just getting to enjoy play a different style of golf, links golf. A win would be exciting, but I'm just here to have fun and compete.

Q. How has the game been the last few months?

ANNABELLE PANCAKE: It's been a struggle the last couple days, but I can at least be confident in what I've had the last couple months. So hopefully it comes out tomorrow more than today.

Q. And the big question: Is Dad here? Had a bit of a challenge. Do we have the same scenario come Friday?

ANNABELLE PANCAKE: Maybe. Maybe. We joked about that. He said, "Well, hopefully I'll see you in a couple days." But we'll see. Unfortunately he's not here, though.

Q. That was special for you last year.

ANNABELLE PANCAKE: That was so cool. It was a great memory.
