Quick Quotes
Q. Good win this morning. Keeps the hopes alive?
HANNAH DARLING: Yeah, a hundred per cent. Very happy to come through. I played best in the final at the British Girls'. Feel like I almost blew it again at the Under 16s when I won. So we've had a few good matches, and it's been very close, and today was just the same. She's a great player, very gritty player.
So very happy to come out on top and go on to tomorrow.
Q. How tough is that when you are playing somebody you know so well and obviously know her game well?
HANNAH DARLING: Yes, it's hard because I would say I would consider her a friend. So it's almost like, you know, you want to beat her, but at the same time, you want her to play well, and it's kind of just a mix between that.
But yeah, we've almost grown up playing the same events, and now she's over in America at college, too. We played quite a lot of the same tournaments. But yeah, it was obviously a good win this morning.
Q. Hopes high of going far?
HANNAH DARLING: Yeah, I'm trying to stay where my feet are, take each day as it comes, each moment as it comes, and just focus on what I can control.
You know, if I take care of all those things and the outcome is whatever it is. It can be successful or not, but I'm going to be happy, whatever.
So yeah, it's obviously -- I've obviously played this event a few years and I feel like it's one of the events I would love to win the most.
But you know what, I'm not even thinking about that and I'm just controlling what I can control.
Q. What can you take from those lessons of the past of coming close?
HANNAH DARLING: I think it's just match play, anything can happen. Every single year, I've been in matches when I've pretty much been beaten by the winner every year I've played.
So I think that I can take that as confidence, and if one putt drops or one ball rolls a different way or whatever, then it can be a completely different match.
I know my game is right there and I know that in match play, I can beat anyone I play. A lot of confidence from that.
Q. On the back of links golf, how are you finding the challenge?
HANNAH DARLING: It's tough. It's tough. I had to say in stroke play, it had me a little worried at times. But it's a good test and it's visually a good test I would say. The wind was up a little bit on day one and then we had a bit of rain yesterday.
So the conditions haven't exactly been the best either. Today was great but I think we are looking for -- the forecast is for from pretty high winds tomorrow. So it will be just more links golf to play.
Q. Welcome back to the U.K.
HANNAH DARLING: Thank you. It's definitely not as hot as America, let me tell you.
