WOMEN’S AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP

June 25, 2024

Meja Ortengren

Hunstanton, England, United Kingdom

Quick Quotes

Q. Well-played. Looks like you're going to be one of the leaders, second position. How do you feel about today's round?

MEJA ORTENGREN: It was good, yeah. I was happy with the day. I made some longer putts. Putting has been a little bit tricky the last few weeks. So I'm happy with having a good round.

Q. Not so many scores under par when you look at the leaderboard, so you've done well to compile an under-par round on a difficult golf course.

MEJA ORTENGREN: Yeah, it's been very difficult with the wind but I think I've got two tee times that was pretty good with not a lot of wind. It was manageable out there today. So yeah, just played steady and hit as many greens as I can.

Q. I know you've played plenty of tough links golf courses before but how are you finding Portmarnock?

MEJA ORTENGREN: I like it. It fits my eye pretty good. I like it but it's hard if you are not hitting it to where you want it. It's hard when you are not playing as good, and it's rewarding when you are. So it's nice.

Q. And now you've got to reset for match play. What's your focus now going into the match-play stage?

MEJA ORTENGREN: Get some sleep tonight and just be ready for tomorrow. I mean, it's match play but it's golf. You have to play good to go through.
