I. SWIATEK/L. Jeanjean
6-1, 6-2
THE MODERATOR: Can you tell us about this experience playing on the Philipp- Chatrier?
LEOLIA JEANJEAN: It was a very good experience. We, the French, we love this court. Unfortunately, it was quite short. Well, the experience was. I was very happy to play on this court.
THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.
Q. Well, the draw was tough for you. What can you say about Iga's play?
LEOLIA JEANJEAN: Very solid. She's an all-around player, and it's very difficult because you think you'll never beat her because she's better. She's an all-around player.
It's incredible the intensity she has and the zones, the areas she can find. She hits very quickly after the rebound and plays really fast. It was very impressive.
Q. Didn't you feel a bit sad because not many people were there, and you're a French player against the World No. 1 here at Roland Garros?
LEOLIA JEANJEAN: No, that was normal. The big names are Nadal-Zverev, but then at the end of the match the stands are crowded.
Of course, I'm French, but these names, they're not the dream names because everybody thought that the match would be played very quickly. Nobody would have thought I could even win a set. So there you go.
Q. Yet, the beginning of the second set was good. You broke her. Did you believe you could win?
LEOLIA JEANJEAN: Win the match? No, not at all. Could I believe that? Well, each game I had under my belt was a bit of air that I was breathing.
I thought, I'm still in the match. Then I won a number of shots because she made unforced errors. I didn't have many good shots or winning shots, rather, and that's really what was tough for me on the other side of the net because I was leading, if you looked at the score. But then when she could find her form, I knew she would be in the play.
Q. You said, unfortunately and sadly, but did you enjoy it?
LEOLIA JEANJEAN: Well, of course, I enjoyed the match, but then when you look at the end of the first set, that was 20 minutes. The objective was to last at least an hour, at least an hour. I managed to play an hour, and I'm very proud about that as well. It was quick, but then a great experience.
When I started playing tennis, it was my dream to play against the World No. 1 on the Chatrier, and I had this luck today.
Q. What are the take-home messages from Roland? Three qually matches that you won, the first round as well... is that positive?
LEOLIA JEANJEAN: Yeah, that's positive because before I stepped in on the court, I had not played and won many matches, so three matches in a row that I won. It hadn't happened to me for a long spell.
Before that I can tell you that I played a lot on the Lenglen, which was crowded. I got qualified, and I was crammed with emotions. A major moment for me.
Then I'm sad. When it ends, you're always sad. I'm sad it ended today, but yet, I'm happy because, as I said, I played against her beforehand, and it's an honor to be playing on that court against such a player on the Chatrier court.
So mixed feelings. Yet, I'm very disappointed because I've got to walk out. I have to go away, but I'm happy about my results this week.
