D. MEDVEDEV/T. Machac
7-6, 7-5, 1-6, 6-4
THE MODERATOR: Tomas, a few words about this tournament for you.
TOMAS MACHAC: I think it was a good tournament for me. I win two good matches, especially the fifth set two days back. Today was also I think a great match but really close. I think it could be at least the fifth set today.
Yeah, but it's tennis. I did everything what I could, but today was not enough.
THE MODERATOR: Questions in English.
Q. I wanted to ask you about the unusual thing with the bird there in the fourth set. Did you see what happened?
TOMAS MACHAC: Yeah, yeah, I saw that. I think he was a little bit struggling. I don't know what happened (smiling).
But you need to focus. You can't try to watch that. But, you know, it's tough, but I tried to focus.
Q. Have you ever had that happen before?
TOMAS MACHAC: No, I think it was the first time that this happened.
Q. How would you describe your game, your style, the way you play tennis?
TOMAS MACHAC: I try to play aggressive. I try to going to the net to finish the point. I think I'm serving good, and especially returning well. But I think I find my game kind of this year, that I play really solid, but I lost a few matches against the best ones. So I think the process is going well.
Q. That moment where you hit backhand slice and then passing shot with your left arm, I mean, is this normal? Do you try this in practice or what?
TOMAS MACHAC: I think it's not normal, but I'm trying to play it sometimes in the practice, because I like to play left-handed or one-handed backhand, try to enjoy myself on the court. Yeah, so yeah, when you try to win the point, you try everything. I have to play lefty.
Q. What's your goal? What do you want to do in tennis?
TOMAS MACHAC: To play as much as possible. Just to enjoy it. I think I don't try to think about the results or ranking. I'm just trying to play my game, enjoy myself on the court and the results will come.
Q. Not No. 1 or...
TOMAS MACHAC: I don't have it. I am not that guy that from the beginning of the career saying to himself I want to be first. I never did that. I never do that. But if I would be close, of course I would like to be first (smiling). But for now I'm trying to be humble and go as much as possible.
