Q. A shame about the finish perhaps, but you must have been encouraged by some of your scoring in the round today?
DAVID WATTS: Yeah, absolutely, I played well. I hit the ball nicely for the majority of the round. You know, as cliché as it is, you can't win the tournament on the first day but you can certainly play yourself out of it.
So just today was kind of just maintaining, trying to post a reasonable score and then look forward to the next two days.
Q. And how is the course playing, good?
DAVID WATTS: Yeah, the course is playing very well. It's certainly a lot drier than it was last year, which is nice. It's in very good condition. Greens are rolling nicely. Rough's a bit thick just off the fairway, so yeah, you need to position yourself well. Try to leave yourself some uphill putts.
Yeah, the scores are there to be made but you need to strike it well.
Q. What's your feeling about the whole venue this year and the look of the event and everything? Are you impressed?
DAVID WATTS: Yeah, definitely. I think it's definitely stepped up from what it was in its first year which is great to see. Just, yeah, the whole feeling around the week has been really good so far and I've thoroughly enjoyed it and looking forward to the last two days.
Q. And finally, what are your hopes for the week? Do you think if you play your best, you can maybe lift the trophy?
DAVID WATTS: Yeah, so, look, I mean, at the moment, I'm just taking it one shot at a time. Trying to feel my way around out there. I mean, obviously it's pretty foreign conditions to me. I'm from quite a long way away. So yeah, so like I said, one shot at a time, enjoy the experience and what will be, will be.
