Quick Quotes
THE MODERATOR: Here with Nelly Korda after the completion of her third round of the Chevron Championship.
Q. Can you tell us about the conditions out there and how good were pars?
NELLY KORDA: So different, oh, my gosh. The first three days we're sweating so much and today I was freezing out there. Pars went a long way. Made some good up-and-downs. Overall played pretty well. The golf course is just playing so different right now. It's quite tough in this weather.
The wind is out of a complete different direction, too, so the holes that I would probably hit 3-wood on or maybe take advantage of, I had 6-irons in instead of short irons. Completely different.
Q. What's the challenge like of playing such a different course in the middle of a round, and then what did you learn from these final few holes going into the end of the day today?
NELLY KORDA: Yeah, I just think adjusting. Seven kind of adjusting when you're out here. You just kind of have to adjust to whatever is thrown your way. It just played like a completely different golf course. The strategies that we had maybe for yesterday coming in were just kind of thrown out the window, and you just had to adapt to the situation you were in right now.
Q. Can you talk about what you saw on 18 with the second shot and the third shot here?
NELLY KORDA: Yeah, I actually had 180 in, and I decided to hit a 5-iron. I was in between a 5- and a 6-iron and I hit it really good, but sometimes when it's downwind and I had a lie a little bit on the downhill slope, the wind kind of pushes it down. I hit it really good, and it just came up short, and short is dead to that pin. I didn't have much of a shot. I actually hit that shot in a practice round, and if you take it too far left it actually can go in the water.
I just kind of went the safe route and gave myself a 15-, 20- footer for birdie.
Q. You said this week you've been trying to vibe with what your coach has been telling you. What's the vibe for today?
NELLY KORDA: Just to stay fresh. It was an early wake-up call so I'm going to rest up and stay as fresh as possible for the next 18.
Q. You mentioned yesterday the lack of leaderboards. Where are the leaderboards, and at what point were you looking for them yesterday or today?
NELLY KORDA: I mean, I saw the one, the first leaderboard I really looked at was 9 yesterday, and then I didn't see one at all before the rain delay. Then I think I saw -- either on 16 I saw a leaderboard, and then obviously 18, too. If I don't have time, then I don't tend to look at it.
Q. What's your plan between now and your tee time?
NELLY KORDA: Just chill. Just put my feet up and chill and then go warm up again.
