Quick Quotes
CANDUS HERRERA: I'm Candy Herrera and I caddied for Lottie.
Q. Where do you work? What's your normal day job?
CANDUS HERRERA: So I'm a caddie here at Carlton Woods.
Q. How long you've been doing that?
CANDUS HERRERA: Ten years.
Q. Wow.
CANDUS HERRERA: Yeah.
Q. So when you got the call for this job, did you know anything about Lottie?
CANDUS HERRERA: I did not. I just knew she won a big tournament before. (Laughing.)
I wanted to caddie for an amateur, so she came up and I'm like this is the perfect thing to happen.
Q. Why did you want to caddie for an amateur?
CANDUS HERRERA: This is the first time I've caddied in the LPGA and I figured an amateur might be a little more easy for me to deal with.
Pros kind of are already set in their way and stuff. That's why I wanted to caddie for an amateur.
Q. Who remind you for the job Lottie?
CANDUS HERRERA: My boss did. Yeah, he figured we would be a great fit.
Q. Steve of Emile?
CANDUS HERRERA: No.
Q. The results have been really good so far. How do you think you guys have worked together?
CANDUS HERRERA: Great, she does almost all the hard stuff, all the yardages. All I got to do is keep her laughing and enjoying being out there and not thinking too much at what -- I mean, she's under pressure -- just having fun.
Q. How long did you caddie before caddieing out here?
CANDUS HERRERA: Zero.
Q. This is where you started?
CANDUS HERRERA: This is where I start.
Q. Can you spell your name out?
CANDUS HERRERA: Yes. C-a-n-d-u-s and Herrera is H-e-r-r-e-r-a.
Q. What are some of those things that make Lottie laugh on the golf course?
CANDUS HERRERA: Just talking about our -- what we're going to snack on the turtles out there, what my husband Daniel is doing. We always see him on the golf course. One of the head pros.
Q. What are the favorite snacks so far?
CANDUS HERRERA: We have done some tropical peanut mix, and he were like there is only two yogurts, or yogurt raisins in the whole thing.
Powerades, blue Powerades. All those.
Q. You have experience playing in college, no?
CANDUS HERRERA: I did.
Q. Can you tell us a little bit about that and how does it help you with caddieing, no?
CANDUS HERRERA: So I played at Oklahoma State with Pernilla, and it just helps me kind of with the distance, like where you want to place it on the green, where the misses are and whatnot.
That's kind of it.
Q. What have you seen in Lottie's game that's led her to succeed so far this week?
CANDUS HERRERA: She has power. She's accurate. She knows where to miss it and her putting game is awesome. I haven't seen her miss really a putt today.
Q. How does it compare to some of the people you've caddied for over the years here?
CANDUS HERRERA: Oh, I can't comment on that. (Laughter.) I still have to make a living off that.
Q. Did you turn pro?
CANDUS HERRERA: I did not. I do not like being in front of people (laughter.)
Q. Aside from this right now, what's been the big -- out on the course, what's the biggest difference between caddieing, regular caddieing and a Tour event?
CANDUS HERRERA: There hasn't really -- I mean, I kind of watch honestly the other caddies, professional caddies. I try not to get in the way, so I tried to mirror what they were doing so I wouldn't be an outlier in the group.
Other than that, yeah.
Q. Any of those habits in particular you picked up?
CANDUS HERRERA: Kind of bag placement. Where to go put the bag. Put it on the ground and kind of when it's your turn to pick up the pin.
Q. Did you say this was your first professional event you've caddied in?
CANDUS HERRERA: Yes.
Q. Were there any other amateur ones?
CANDUS HERRERA: I did a couple like U.S. Open qualifiers. I did Q-School. First professional.
Q. What made you want to get into caddieing?
CANDUS HERRERA: I like being on the golf course. I don't like any pressure on me. I like talking to people.
Q. Perfect.
