Quick Quotes
Q. You came here Friday afternoon to visit with your family and weren't sure whether you were going to keep playing. Two days later, how do you feel?
CHRIS KIRK: Yeah, overall I played some great golf yesterday. I played okay today. Would liked to have gotten a few more on the back nine there. But the course is playing so difficult. Everybody can see it's not easy. It was definitely a day where I feel like I could have gotten it a couple under instead of 1-over.
But all in all, yeah, especially after six holes on Friday, I was at 7-over for the tournament. I think if you had asked me right then, I would have taken a top 20 and where I'm at.
Q. Was there a fix in there somewhere or just keep playing?
CHRIS KIRK: Doing this for a little while now, and all you can do is just keep going.
Q. 8, 9 and 10 I thought you were really going to get into something. 11 takes down a lot of folks. You got hot there. Tell me about that stretch.
CHRIS KIRK: Yeah, 8 was a miracle birdie. I hit it in the left trees and chipped out, hit a 5-wood to 25, 30 feet and had a putt that I just hit it halfway and played 15 feet of break, and it happened to go in right in the middle. That was a really cool bonus.
Q. 32 officially.
CHRIS KIRK: 32 feet? Okay, yeah, that was a really cool bonus.
Four great shots on 9 and 10. Got a little lucky with my drive on 9. I pulled it a little left but it got through over the trees and a great wedge shot there, a great putt, and then a beautiful 8-iron in there to two feet on 10. It was nice.
Overall happy with how I'm playing, and looking forward to hopefully improving on it a little bit in Hilton Head next week.
Q. I'm assuming you're not even thinking about top 12 when you're -- was that something you thought about so it takes the pressure off being here again next year?
CHRIS KIRK: Yeah, that would have been nice to go ahead and know for sure, but I'm not a big scoreboard watcher anyway, but I kind of like it here that you don't have the detailed scoreboards that we have on Tour events so you know exactly where you are at all times. I was just trying to hit some good shots. I would have loved to have gotten a few more. 16 kind of stings a little bit, making bogey. It was a really bad number for me and got caught between clubs and trying to hammer an 8-iron and hung it out right a little bit. Hit two good putts and then tapped in for bogey. It is what it is. It's a fine line out there.
Q. You and Sepp still root for each other, don't you?
CHRIS KIRK: Oh, yeah, no doubt. We want to beat each other, but we pull for each other, as well.
