Quick Quotes
Q. Talk about the conditions. A little bit easier out there today, but the wind was still blowing, wasn't it?
WILL ZALATORIS: Yeah, I mean, you've just got to take what it gives you. The par-5s you're able to do some damage, but the greens are getting really dicey. 16, 17, 18 especially were wicked fast and wicked firm and had some really slopey pins, which we're used to.
We just were kind of given a little bit of a reprieve yesterday with the wind. Yeah, I would have liked to have gotten it back to at least red numbers just to have a chance. But throw up a good one tomorrow and keep it going for the next six weeks.
Q. From a player's perspective, Amen Corner, what's it like for you guys when it's abuzz like that?
WILL ZALATORIS: Yeah, there's nothing better. 12 is 150 yards of brutality. I've made plenty of birdies there, but I've made plenty of bogeys. My dad always told me, when you're standing on the bridge on 12 to look back and take that view because it's a view you'll never get on TV.
Always special being here. Never take it for granted.
Q. Tomorrow, just go out and see what you can do?
WILL ZALATORIS: Yeah, I pretty much don't have a chance of making a run at it now. I would have loved to have shot at least 67, 68, but I got the driver a little wayward in the middle of the round. Weeks like this, you need to make as many 10 to 15-footers as you can. I've made a few, but I pretty much needed to make double what I made.
Just get some momentum going for the next six weeks. I've got a busy schedule coming up. I want to win one of these six weeks. I love playing a lot of golf in a row and build up a rhythm.
Q. U.S. Open at Pinehurst; you like that?
WILL ZALATORIS: Yeah, never played No. 2. I'm looking forward to it.
