Quick Quotes
Q. Take us through the week. I know it was a tough finish.
SANTIAGO DE LA FUENTE: It was just hard. I don't think there's any words to explain it. I mean, the course was playing too hard, or harder than what I was expecting or everyone was expecting. I could not hit good shots or make any putts, unfortunately. It's just one more lesson, and I still have a lot of room left to learn, grow and get better and hopefully get back here one day.
Q. It's something we were talking about the veterans, it's very difficult to practice these conditions.
SANTIAGO DE LA FUENTE: I mean, I had five trips to come and visit and get to know the course, and it was nothing like this. I had perfect weather, unfortunately, every day that I came. I wasn't used to these conditions.
It was also too hard with the wind blowing, the sand coming out of the bunker. It's just one of those days.
Q. Any lessons from this week?
SANTIAGO DE LA FUENTE: I don't know yet. I'll have to do all that process afterwards, and then I can look back and see what I learned from this.
Q. (On what it means to have won the Latin America Amateur Championship).
SANTIAGO DE LA FUENTE: Well, it means everything to me. I think for all of us that play in Latin America, winning that event means everything because you get to play such a great event like this, and then you get the U.S. Open and the British Open. It's a great experience. It's just making me better and preparing me for professional golf.
