Quick Quotes
Q. Talk us through the illness you had. Are you over it?
CAM SMITH: Yeah, a bit of food poisoning at the start of last week and probably just tried to do a little bit too much and body just kind of shut down on me. Yeah, spent the weekend in the bed, which wasn't the greatest preparation, but I was just saying that today is probably the first day where I feel like I've got a little bit of energy. I'm sure I'll be pretty cooked tonight. At least I could get around and feel okay.
Q. (Indiscernible) jump over Rae's Creek?
CAM SMITH: Very unsuccessfully, but that was funny. That was a laugh.
Q. How do you feel about where your game is at?
CAM SMITH: Game feels good. I was just saying to Gary, probably a few weeks there at the start of the year, trying to address some stuff in the swing and just felt a little bit uncomfortable and just hard to commit on some really tough driving courses, to be honest. It was good to play nice in Hong Kong and kind of know that it's still there. It was feeling nice last week just -- yeah.
Q. How important is it to make a decent start at the Masters? Is that on your mind?
CAM SMITH: Yeah, I mean, you try and play well every round, obviously, but I think here more than most places if you get behind the 8-ball, you're pretty screwed pretty early. It definitely doesn't make it any easier.
I think the golf course is going to get harder and heard are as the week goes on, and you definitely want to be up at the top of the leaderboard when it starts to get firm and fast.
Q. You tried to long jump over Rae's Creek on 13 was it?
CAM SMITH: Yeah, I didn't try to jump, I just tried to get on a couple of rocks, and I had metals in my right shoe and I slipped. A bit of comedy for the crowd there.
Q. Did you land on your back --
CAM SMITH: The only thing I was thinking as I was going down was not to get wet, so I managed to actually do all right. I think my glove was -- I had to throw my glove out and my shoes were a bit wet, but that's about it.
Q. What's the significance of the bracelet? Is that a fishing thing?
CAM SMITH: No, my wife makes me wear it. It's called an Ava Lite (phonetic), so it's meant to -- I don't even know to be honest. She just makes me wear it.
Q. Is it a good luck charm?
CAM SMITH: I've worn this one specifically for probably two and a half years now. It's done all right.
