Q. All right, here with Leona Maguire after the T-Mobile Match Play presented by MGM Rewards. Just talk about the week as a whole. Still a really solid finish heading into The Chevron Championship.
LEONA MAGUIRE: Yeah, I mean, lots of positives. Obviously right now it's pretty disappointing to finish the way I finished, but it almost felt like two separate tournaments this week, the stroke play event and the match play event.
To lead the stroke play around this golf course by three at the end of the three days was something I can take a lot of positives from and be very proud of.
Yeah, Nelly is the best player in the world for a reason. She brought her A game today and mind wasn't good enough. Fair play to her for winning again this week.
Q. And how do you kind of take this momentum? What do you work on in the off week here before The Chevron Championship?
LEONA MAGUIRE: Yeah, I feel like my game is really close. Obviously played some great golf this week. Hit some really nice shots. Just needed to putt a little bit better I think today.
So, yeah, work on that. I hear the greens at Chevron have been changed a little bit. Major championships ultimately come down to putting.
Yeah, a little bit of extra work on my putting and we should be in good shape.
Q. You mentioned yesterday on TV about having the competitiveness with your sister growing up and the fondness of match play. Just talk about that again, how you enjoy the competitiveness of this format.
LEONA MAGUIRE: Yeah, I mean, it's a fun format, match play. It was a little different this week obviously, but it was nice to kind of get the best of both I suppose. Interesting to see what we do next year if it's the same format or not.
But, yeah, match play is always fun. It brings out the competitiveness in in everybody and it's more exciting to watch. I mean, especially around a golf course like this. Rules officials didn't mess around with some of the pins today. They were sitting on the sides of slopes. I don't know if people would've broke 75 in the stroke play around those pins.
They definitely didn't go easy on us today, but that's something you can do in match play, so...
Q. When you're facing someone playing as well as Nelly is and gets off to the start she does, do you feel like you almost have to play perfect golf at that point? How difficult is that?
LEONA MAGUIRE: Yeah, ultimately you know you're going to have to make birdies if you want to beat her. Unfortunately I didn't make enough today. Yeah, hats off to her. She is an incredible player and she is playing some great golf right now. All I could do is play my own game and that wasn't good enough today.
