THE MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT PRESENTED BY WORKDAY

June 3, 2022

Adam Hadwin

Dublin, Ohio, USA

Muirfield Village

Quick Quotes

Q. Great round. Followed by an eagle, of course, hole-in-one. Walk us through the hole-in-one?

ADAM HADWIN: We had a good number for the shot that we picked, just kind of a hold 7. It's a tough hole. You've got to hit a golf shot. And it came off perfect. It was cutting right to it.

But, you know, I've played this game long enough. I've hit enough perfect golf shots that don't end up getting close to a hole-in-one. So there's a lot of luck involved with that of where it lands on the green and stuff. I hit the exact shot that I wanted to in that instance.

And it just happened to find the right line on the green. Pretty exciting.

Q. First career hole-in-one on TOUR, or is that also first ever? Have you had any --

ADAM HADWIN: No, it's three. Third one.

Q. Where were the other two?

ADAM HADWIN: I had one when I was, gosh, like 15 years old in a junior tournament.

And then my second is debatable whether it counts or not. But I was playing by myself a couple of weeks before Sony at TPC Scottsdale and I had one on 16, but nobody witnessed it, unfortunately. I count it, but some might not.

Q. For today, what was the reaction of other people in the pairings and the crowd?

ADAM HADWIN: I think I kind of blacked out for a second when it went in. I had been battling to get myself close to that cut line anyways. And so I knew how important every little shot was. And to kind of see it go over the lip and fall in, I just -- you've got pure joy as a reaction there. Again, I blacked out. I'm not sure exactly what happened.

But it was loud back in that corner, that's all I know. I said to Nick after, if that's how loud this was, I can't imagine getting one at TPC Scottsdale on 16.

Q. Confirm what club.

ADAM HADWIN: It was a 7-iron.

Q. What was the number, you said you had a good number?

ADAM HADWIN: Pin was 88, 89. We were trying to fly it 82ish, give or take. Greens are firming up, especially coming down breeze. And a 7, a full 7 down breeze like that probably would have flown right close to the pin. So it was a perfect little just kind of hold the face through impact, aim left and let it bleed right.

And like I said, I pulled the shot off perfectly.

Q. This is a big-picture question. How many shots can you remember in your career where a shot came off perfectly and also that -- obviously not necessarily went in the hole, but exactly what you wanted it to do?

ADAM HADWIN: That's tough. Except for that shot today, I probably hit four to six shots that were exactly what I needed to do, and 16 was the only one that actually flew the proper distance.

That's why I say, like, you've got to -- there's some luck involved in getting the right gusts and stuff. Especially today, it was pretty shifty, the wind. I found it was. Like I said, I hit a lot of good shots that were -- I thought I hit a great wedge shot on 11, and it flew ten yards too far. And then I thought I hit a great shot on the very next hole, on the 12th, and it flew 10 yards short of where I thought it was going.

Q. Short side (inaudible) it was okay, though?

ADAM HADWIN: It was in the bunker. I had probably three or four shots that just were five to ten yards off of where I thought they were going to fly today. To get that one on 16 was pretty nice.
