Quick Quotes
Q. Nice finish on the last. Talk about the highlights today.
MAISIE FILLER: Yeah, it was a really solid day. My second nine, which was the front nine, was really solid. I started off with an eagle, so that was a real confidence booster going into the rest of my nine there, and my putting was really spot on today. I felt really comfortable on the greens.
Q. Take us through the eagle.
MAISIE FILLER: Yeah, I had about 130 downwind, so I hit a little three-quarter nine and it one hopped and jarred. That was pretty awesome.
Q. How different did the course feel today than yesterday?
MAISIE FILLER: It definitely was a bit more wet, especially off the tee. The greens were a bit more receptive. But the greens were rolling about the same. It was just a little longer in spots because of the wetness but not too dissimilar to yesterday.
Q. How does it compare to previous years here?
MAISIE FILLER: I was only here last year, and we got a lot of rain before the first round, too, last year. It was pretty similar to last year I would say. It's not as wet. Last year was pretty wet. But it was pretty similar to last year.
Q. Do you notice a difference in your mindset or nervousness this year compared to last year just being the fact that it's not your first time and you come in here a three-time winner in college golf already this season?
MAISIE FILLER: Yeah, it's definitely a confidence boost based on my performance this past year, but I'm definitely still always nervous. You don't care if you're not nervous.
But I felt a little bit more confident on this course just from last year, so I felt better prepared coming into it having different shots that I need.
Q. What did you admire the most about your sister when you were a young player in terms of her game and what she was doing?
MAISIE FILLER: I just always thought she was so cool for playing golf. I just loved everything she did. I look up to her. She's seven and a half years older, so she's definitely a role model for me in everything she does. I'm always striving to be like her.
Q. Did she have a good read today or a particular moment where she really helped you?
MAISIE FILLER: She helped me a lot with my distances. She's really good at judging the wind, so that was key for me. I mostly read the putts on my own. I'm really confident in my green reading, so I did that myself today.
Q. How tough is it for her to not give you in the swing advice just considering her career?
MAISIE FILLER: She's very good at it. She knows Jason Baile and I have our stuff we're working on, and she's confident in that and she knows what I'm working on, so she doesn't need to get involved or want to.
