ARNOLD PALMER INVITATIONAL

March 10, 2024

Max Homa

Bay Hill, Florida, USA

Bay Hill Club and Lodge

Quick Quotes

Q. Your thoughts on the week overall?

MAX HOMA: Really pleased. Wish I would have made more of a push on the weekend, but from how poor my golf game felt on the West Coast to how good it felt this week, I'm really intrigued and optimistic about that.

Q. What do you feel like maybe changed from the West Coast to the East Coast?

MAX HOMA: Some swing stuff. Mark and I sat down -- or had a phone call, and I hate saying, like, rebuilt it, because it's never that big, but we changed quite a bit, changed my grip and some other things, and I hit the ball up the middle a lot this week. I was hitting it much further than I ever do, so that was a tricky thing.

But, yeah, just all of it. The ball striking was just so poor on the West Coast and this week I was really happy with the strikes and the control for the most part. Just getting a little bit more comfortable with it in a tournament for the first week, I was pretty happy with it.

Q. How can a week like this, the challenge that Bay Hill presents, prepare you for next week and THE PLAYERS Championship?

MAX HOMA: Yeah, I guess it depends how you take it. This was the best I've ever been mentally, so you learn a lot from that. I think it just makes you a little bit stronger and ready for an event like THE PLAYERS or the majors. So, yeah, I just learned a lot -- I mean just today, started with a double and a bogey and brought it back to 1-over for the day, which is pretty great out here. So just learning things like that, I think you take that with you if you put yourself in that mindset that you're going to learn something.

Q. What's the biggest thing that you focus on when playing TPC Sawgrass?

MAX HOMA: It's definitely one of the top couple courses we play all year. I think it's getting comfortable on the tee shots, and it looks like it forces your hand at times on which way to shape it, and I think if you're swinging it well, it's easy just to go with where the golf course takes you. But sometimes I think you have to play a little bit more conservative and just play the shot that fits your eye, maybe takes less club and be short of the corners. It's a tricky golf course, but it always has an amazing winner and it's a wide range of player.
