Q. Lydia, a round that began so beautifully. How about that eagle on the third hole. Tell us all about it.

LYDIA KO: Yeah, when I saw the pin position there for hole 3, I knew that was going to be a tough one to get close to. When you don't have to take out the putter out of bag to finish on any hole is definitely a really good feeling.

I played really solid overall. Few mistakes here and there, but it's windy, so some hole locations are extra difficult to get close to. So you have to stay patient. I knew today was going to be a windy day so I tried to keep putting myself in good position and just give myself good looks.

Q. Going into the weekend at this stage two shots off the pace. What's it going to take? Are you the type of player who is going to look at the leaderboards and be aware of the situation or just play your own game?

LYDIA KO: I think I'm just going to stick to my game. I feel like that's what I've done the last few days and it's my tendency. I don't really look at leaderboards a lot. Obviously there are situations you do need to look at it, like the last few holes on the last day, or if you're on the cut line just to know what you need to do.

Other than that, I'm just going to stick to my game plan. I feel like you sometimes have to get lucky and use the slopes, so just have fun and be creative and see where it puts me at the end of Sunday.

Q. Lovely eagle opportunity at the par-5 on the back nine. Final question: What's it going to take when you look at how undulating those greens are?

LYDIA KO: I had a lot of up-and-over putts today. For the most part, did really good in those situations. You know, I think if you do make a bogey, you can't get too irritated about it. Just know that, hey, the next hole you're probably going to have a birdie putt.

As many hard holes there are going to be, there are going to be easy ones. It's a give-and-take, and when it is tricky out there, just play smart and put yourself in good positions.
