Jian Lake Blue Bay Golf Course
Quick Quotes
Q. All right, I'm here with Minjee Lee after her second round at the Blue Bay LPGA. Another solid round today. Near the top of the leaderboard. How did it feel out there?
MINJEE LEE: A little more you up and down today. I probably had a few more loose shots here and there. It was a little bit tricky beginning of the round with the wind getting up, but by the end of my day it kind of is a bit calmer now, so made a couple birdies coming in and hopefully ride the momentum into tomorrow.
Q. With those last few birdies you had, like you mentioned you had an up and down day, anything you're telling yourself to make the last push, your caddie is telling you?
MINJEE LEE: Not really. I mean, I just didn't want to be over par today. I was 1-over probably on, I don't know, the 15th hole and birdie 16, 17. Just nice to finish that way.
Q. Being here, what is your sense of comfortability with this course having the past knowledge you have here?
MINJEE LEE: Yeah, I've always is quite liked the golf course. I think because I like the windy conditions. Pretty much grew up in a very windy place.
I just like the challenge of the greens also, and I just have good memories here and it's just nice to be back and playing again.
Q. Is there anywhere that you think of when you think of this course? Anywhere else that you've played that it reminds you of?
MINJEE LEE: Maybe the grass kind of reminds me of Hawai'i a little bit, the type of grass. With the wind, maybe Hawai'i. But the vibe is a little bit different obviously. Yeah, no, I really enjoy both places.
Q. Was there anything you did on the range to prepare for the winds?
MINJEE LEE: I hit a couple knock-down shots but didn't end up using any of them. Yeah, no, hopefully tomorrow is a nice day for us as well.
Q. Last question: There has been a lot of pictures of you around, posters. What it's been like seeing that and knowing you're a champion of this event?
MINJEE LEE: I almost don't recognize myself because it's been that long. 2016 feels like a really long time ago.
But it's nice to see a lot of the posters out and smiling with the trophy, so always good vibes when I get to see those pictures.
Q. What would you tell 2016 Minjee looking at it now?
MINJEE LEE: I mean, back then I didn't really know anything. I was just playing every event I could. Probably that I'm really proud of me now.
