Quick Quotes
Q. First of all, a 62, a new course record. How do you feel?
KEEGAN SHUTT: I'm buzzing. I can't express it. I don't know how I kept my nerves today, especially coming up to the closing holes. 7, 8, 9 have been really where I've been battling this week. I'm just really glad that I held it together. Just absolutely buzzing.
Q. Is that as good a round of golf as you've played competitively?
KEEGAN SHUTT: It is. It is. My closest, I think, is 65. But yeah, the 62 really tops it, especially at this amazing course, Leopard Creek.
Q. I don't know if you're aware of this, but they inn subscribe the names of the course record holders here at the clubhouse. How proud are you of that?
KEEGAN SHUTT: Like I said, I have no words. Before the day, I would never have imagined being in this position. I'm just so happy that I managed to do that.
Q. To have broken a record held by somebody like Louis Oosthuizen who's an Open Champion, that must be really satisfying.
KEEGAN SHUTT: It's crazy. I can't even believe it. Just looking at those guys who have played here and walked the course and did what I did, and for me to now hold the record, it's really something special. I'm really grateful for it.
Q. What were the highlights of the round for you? Talk about the eagle.
KEEGAN SHUTT: The eagle on 6, I hit my drive just a little bit left, and the pin was back right. I was quite nervous coming up to the chip because I knew over the green there was a bunker, and I knew I had to stop it, but I didn't know how far to land it because if I didn't hit it hard enough, it was going to come back to my feet, and I pitched it just perfectly, and it rolled in, and it just fell right in.
Q. Have you had any messages from friends and family yet?
KEEGAN SHUTT: I actually haven't looked at my phone yet. I came straight off the course, and everyone was congratulating me, and I came straight here, so I haven't had a chance to look at my phone yet.
