Quick Quotes
Q. Jaravee, a 5-under round today to propel you up the leaderboard. What was working so well on this day two for you?
JARAVEE BOONCHANT: I guess just being patient, because I was 2-under -- no. I was 2-under through 9 and I bogey No. 10 and I was keep missing the birdie opportunities.
I was just being there and just trying to stay as patient and possible and was hoping for the ball to eventually drop, and it did on 14. That kept the momentum going.
Q. Chip-in on 14. What happened there? What did you see and did you give any kind of reaction? Did it feel nice to get the ball rolling again?
JARAVEE BOONCHANT: Yeah, I was like, ohhh, finally. Even though I keep missing the birdie, pass so close to the hole, I was like, okay, I chip in, it's nice, too. When I was on the back of the green I was like, okay, I just need to chip it close and walk off with a par. It's already like good enough. With a chip in that's even better.
Q. Ending the last couple holes the way you did, when did you feel it all click? Was it after that chip-in? And what did you feel on the last birdies coming in?
JARAVEE BOONCHANT: I think it's actually after the long putt I made on 15. I hit a very good second shot but it just caught like in front of the hill and it broke all the way back and have like 17 yards putt.
I was just trying to, again, walk off with a par, but that went in. When we were on 16 tee we were just looking at the yardage and it was the same yardage as the hole we played before so we were like, okay, that is a good yardage.
I think I just gained confidence from the two birdie that I just made.
Q. Sponsor's invite this week. I see Siam Country Club on your collar here. What does it mean to be back here for you?
JARAVEE BOONCHANT: I mean, we grew up watching Honda LPGA on TV, and be able to come back here for the third time is such an honor. It's great to play on this great condition golf course, and especially in front of all the Thai fans, all the younger generation, and in front of my parents.
It's just so nice to be out here again. It's always like the tournament I'm always looking forward to just being able to play in this event. This is the first event of the season, so nice to start off with this.
Q. How often do your parents get to see you play?
JARAVEE BOONCHANT: Not often. They don't go to the U.S. that much, so only get to see me in Thailand or in Asia.
Q. When you're able come out here, how does it feel to be able to be playing the way you're playing right now in front of your parents?
JARAVEE BOONCHANT: Super happy. Of course like I want to play good all the time. Being able to play well in front of them just add an extra layer of happiness. Just be able to perform the way I can and hold myself like on the golf course, being patient, I think just a very good experience and I'm happy to be out here.
Q. You talked on TV about this is your second season and the mistakes you learned from. As you get into this new year, what are some of your goals and what have you set up for yourself to make this a more successful season?
JARAVEE BOONCHANT: As I said before, I'm going to give myself a break, a good break. I will plan it a little better so that I don't worn myself out before I start a tournament. I just try to focus more on the process.
I just went through a swing change with my coach over the off-season, so going to focus on that and try to think less about the result.
Last year I made a big mistake thinking too much about the ranking and point and I don't feel like I was enjoying golf like the way I used to, so this year I just want to be happy on and off the course. So I'm going to focus on the process and not thinking too much about the numbers.
