Quick Quotes
Q. It was a hell of a run. Tough conditions out there today.
PETER UIHLEIN: Yeah, it was hard. I didn't make it easier hitting it like a -- I hit it all over the shop. It was hard. It was a grind. Putter bailed me out a lot. Short game bailed me out.
Pleased with the week, especially after laying a dud last week. Hit it just about the same as I did last week, it's just this place I can play, so I was able to survive, which was nice.
Q. How proud were you to bounce back from last week and also give yourself a chance with that last birdie --
PETER UIHLEIN: Yeah, I had nothing. Off the tee, I had nothing. I hit a 7-iron on 16 about 65 yards left. I had nothing. Just to be able to get it around and score and survive was kind of -- I'm proud of that. I really am. It's not every week I'm going to hit it like this. I'm going to have weeks where I actually hit it respectably. To kind of get around with absolutely no game off the tee, I'm very proud of that.
Q. Did you think at 11-under --
PETER UIHLEIN: I figured whatever DJ did on 17 was going to -- if he made birdie -- that was the easy hole coming in. Obviously he birdied 15. But 16 and 18 are tough, so I figured if he birdied 17, it was pretty much his, but if he didn't, I felt like I had a chance for a playoff.
He's a stud for a reason.
Q. How was it with you and Matt out there today?
PETER UIHLEIN: Fun. Yeah, we had a good time. We had a great time. Obviously he had the lead for a little bit at one point. Played unbelievable. That driver he hit on 13 pitched in the middle of the green, it's like 350. You can't teach that. Pretty impressive the way he handled himself and battled. I was proud of him.
Q. Did you guys talk about a potential playoff between you two and then the teams at the time were -- you guys were tied with Smash.
PETER UIHLEIN: I mean, if we were on the same side of the hole maybe, but we were on the other side of the holes all day it seemed like. 14 he was left, I was right. 15 I was actually in the fairway, he was right. 17 I was way left, he was right. So we didn't really have much time to chat. We just saw each other up on the green and the tee box.
But it was fun. It was good to battle with him.
Q. Describe the conditions.
PETER UIHLEIN: It was hard. It was just hard. Shout-out to the golf course, though. It was tough, and 12-under won. Four guys in double digits on a golf course that's pretty short. A testament to the course, testament to the grounds crew. They did an unbelievable. It was tough. It wasn't easy. It felt like you could make birdies in bunches when you got it going, but if you were a little bit off, it was tough.
Q. You gave yourself opportunities --
PETER UIHLEIN: I did, yeah. One of these days it'll open up. But when you have guys like Dustin and Cam Smith, Rahm, Brooks, finishing runner-up to some pretty damned good golfers.
