Q. Thoughts on your first round?

YANNIK PAUL: The game felt in a good place but you never know after a little bit of a break, so I just tried to, you know, make good shots and not have any expectations too high. Yeah, it worked really well today.

Q. Last year, you did set a few goals and you achieved a couple of those but not all of them. Going into this new year, how can you press that reset button? Are you a goal-setter kind of guy?

YANNIK PAUL: Yeah, I always make a vision board for the year for obviously my career but also private life. I believe when you kind of manifest that, it will come to you, maybe not always right away but I think long term, if you have a good mental state, a lot of good things can happen and that's kind of how I see it.

Q. You've talked about how hungry you are to take on this year again, narrowly missing out on the Ryder Cup as well. Overall how much motivation and determination does that feed into you looking ahead?

YANNIK PAUL: Yeah, obviously sometimes you always dream about certain things, and yeah, I would love to be playing next year at the Ryder Cup but it's a long way to go. As I get better, obviously I have the mindset it would be nice to play in the States but in the end all I want to do is just get better. I really enjoy it out here as well. I love playing in the Middle East and I love playing in Europe and I love traveling.
