Quick Quotes

Q. All right, here with Robyn Choi after her third round. Bogey-free; 7-under round. Walk us through the round today. What was the strong part of your game? Had a strong stretch of holes from 11 to 16, about five birdies in that stretch. Talk about it a little bit.

ROBYN CHOI: I think I just started, you know, just average. I wasn't sure how the course was going to play because it was kind of playing long when I played the Falls the first day. It was cold, so I thought it was going to play a little different today.

No, I just -- front nine was just I just made two birdies. Just nothing crazy. I was hitting a lot of good shots into the holes. Then just made two birdies. Then after the 11th I started hitting them a little bit closer, and, yeah, just making my putts. It was just going in.

I didn't make anything like crazy long or anything. I just hit them pretty close today, so...

Q. Is there a certain moment in your round, like you said, starting on 11 where you started hitting it closer, does that change your game plan coming down the stretch, maybe more aggressive lines or stick with the same game plan?

ROBYN CHOI: Yeah, well, when I'm hitting it better I do tend to take a little more aggressive line because I think I have the confidence to hit it and it's not going to miss too much.

Yeah, when I do start hitting them pretty close and I start to aim a little bit more aggressive at the pins, and, yeah, just like I don't really think about the danger zones as much as when I'm not hitting it well.

Q. Is there a feeling or maybe a shot when you hit it when you know you're kind of in that zone per se?

ROBYN CHOI: I don't know. Like I kind of realize I'm in the zone after I'm done. Like after I've had that stretch I'm like, oh, I was in that zone.

No, like I think I just like go in the zone and just don't even like recognize that I'm in it. I just play and then after I'm done, like, oh, I was pretty focused. So, yeah.

Q. And then incredibly consistent throughout the Epson Tour season. Right back at it again this week. What do you think one of the keys has been for your consistent playing so far this year?

ROBYN CHOI: I think throughout the season my iron shots have gotten better, so I was able to hit them a little closer.

But I think overall just playing smart aggressive. I think when I have to play safe, I'll just take it a little bit like a safer line, but when I have like a short iron in and I can like kind of go for it, I think that's kind of changed throughout the season. Just being able to attack it with short irons a little bit more.
