Quick Quotes
Q. Good start to your campaign here at the DP World Tour Championship. Talk us through the opening round 68.
ADRIAN MERONK: Yeah, very solid round. I didn't get off to a hot start fighting for bogey on the first hole.
But there was a lot of good shots. Obviously the eagle on the fifth was a good between us for me. But to be honest, I played quite solid all day. Had a few more looks. But still very happy with my round and position.
Q. The fifth hole, the eagle, you had a big smile, tail wagging on 18 after that 3-wood?
ADRIAN MERONK: Yeah, I mean, 18 playing from the back tees into that wind, it's a hell of a hole. Missed my drive to the left and had a tricky lie in the sand and hit a good shot. Got lucky, the ball stayed on the fairway, and then I had a 3-wood in. Great shot which was quite solid, and I'm very happy to walk with par on the last.
Q. And difficult not to short-side yourself but looks like some rain and maybe thunder and lightning over the night and morning. How much longer will it make this course play?
ADRIAN MERONK: To be honest, the ball, it all depends on the grass and the grain. If it's into the grain it doesn't really roll that much. But I'm not sure, I've never played after rain on this course, so we'll see. Everyone is going to have to adjust.
Q. With every success, every win, we see a player add an extra jump in their step and looks like you're still carrying yours from Spain. How much confidence do you come to this week with?
ADRIAN MERONK: Yeah, a lot. Even played well last week in Sun City. The game feels good. I just want to take care of my body this week. It's been a long season and I can feel it in my body but try to stay as fresh as possible.
But in terms of golf, I'm just doing the same thing every day, just following my routine, trusting my process and that's all I can do, and so far, that's what I've done.
