Trump National Doral
Quick Quotes
JOAQUÍN NIEMANN: Yeah, it was a lot more stressful at the end than I thought. I thought we were dominating pretty good. I was 4-up. Our foursome was 3-up and Sebastian already won. I think that's what match play brings. We had to close it out, and yeah, Louis on my side, he started playing great golf at the end, and I was able to make good putts in the end, so pretty happy.
Q. How about big picture, coming into the season -- honestly what were your expectations, young team when we were in Florida doing the shoot with the LEDs, what were you thinking for the year?
JOAQUÍN NIEMANN: Yeah, it was pretty cool. During the year, we didn't play with these crowds. I saw so many friends today and so many people I haven't seen in a while, and having them here, playing in front of them was just awesome.
Q. About the team coming together all year long, did you imagine this is where you guys would be?
JOAQUÍN NIEMANN: Yeah, obviously this was our goal. We worked hard the whole year. We still have one more day but this is the position we want to be this morning, and we were happy that we are here right now.
Q. What do you think the crowds will be like tomorrow for you guys?
JOAQUÍN NIEMANN: I think it will be awesome. You can feel the electricity from our Latin group there. Have a lot of friends from Chile that live here. I'm excited for tomorrow.
Q. You guys have been chasing the 4Aces all year. You talked about it and you're now 18 holes away. How good is the feeling right now to finally be in that position, like one day, you've got three or four other teams but obviously the Aces are the guys?
JOAQUÍN NIEMANN: Yeah, it's still a long day tomorrow. We've got to put really good four rounds to take the tournament.
Talking about today, we are really happy to make it to this point. I think that was the goal of this morning to give ourselves a chance and try to win our matches, and that's what we did.
So yeah, I mean, just try to do the same tomorrow. We are going to try to keep playing our game, to let the situation come to us, and if it's the right moment we are going to be ready for it.
Q. Where every moment counts, do you feel like this is the ultimate test of a team's depth? There's no place to hide.
JOAQUÍN NIEMANN: Yeah, I felt the energy from the whole team. We fight 13 weeks to only have one day of match play where it all comes down to one-on-one, and if you lose, you don't have a chance to win the tournament. So we feel that pressure since the beginning of the week. We talked about it. Everybody was going to be nervous today.
And yeah, you look back to it, it was pretty close of not going our way. So yeah, I mean, it's nice to be here right now.
Q. Are you the deepest team in the League?
JOAQUÍN NIEMANN: What do you mean, deepest?
Q. Have the most depth, the most talent across all four players?
JOAQUÍN NIEMANN: I don't think so. I think we all have our own style. Sebastian is one of the best players I've seen doing match play. I think if we have four guys playing match play, I think we will have an even better chance. I think our foursomes was pretty strong but it's so hard a format. Mito is too consistent the whole year. He didn't miss a shot. And David is fun to watch. He's aggressive. And I'm a different style, too. I think everybody has their own style.
