BMW LADIES CHAMPIONSHIP

October 21, 2023

Celine Boutier

Busan, South Korea

LPGA International Busan

Quick Quotes

Q. Obviously, first 16 holes, a very impressive day from you. Just overall what was this moving day like?

CELINE BOUTIER: Very good. I feel like I played really solid all day and hit a lot of close shots. So I feel like that helped me a lot to, like, score. And feel like the conditions were a little bit less windy, so a little bit more gettable.

Q. I know the wind has really died down on those front nine holes. How did you take advantage of those first nine today?

CELINE BOUTIER: I feel like I just played really steady. My putts didn't drop, I actually had mostly birdies on the back. So I feel like just tried to stay patient.

Q. That run of birdies there on the back nine, just what was working so well on those holes, and how did you think this course fit your game on that back nine?

CELINE BOUTIER: Honestly, I just feel like I hit a few close, like, tap-ins that helped me, and then I had a really good putt on 16 that also helped me a lot too.

So I just feel like overall I just feel like my long game has been very good, and today I just -- I had a lot of birdie chances.

Q. A good three days here to really put yourself towards the top of the leaderboard. What have you been working on coming into this Asia swing?

CELINE BOUTIER: Nothing specific. I feel like I was just focusing on my long game a little bit. I was, yeah, working on it with my coach before coming here.

And then I just feel like this course, I wasn't really -- this course and next week I didn't know -- I don't know what to expect because I had never played, and so I -- it was hard to prepare specifically to the course. I was just trying to get my game ready and as best as possible from top to bottom.

And I feel like I lucked out of it this week as visually I feel like the course is very nice, and I feel like it fits my -- I don't know if it fits my game specifically, but I just feel like I feel comfortable like visually, so I feel like that also is a little bit of luck.

Q. We've seen your name towards the top of the leaderboard a lot this year. With that in mind, what do you draw from going into a day like tomorrow?

CELINE BOUTIER: I mean, I think it's not a tournament until you play 72 holes. So I feel like, yeah, it's good to put yourself in position, but there's still so much that can happen.

So I just honestly try to stay in the moment. I feel like it's really no point in getting ahead of yourself too much, and I feel like especially like with the quality of the field and the fact that golf is also a game that's a little bit unpredictable, it's best to just be able to focus on what you can manage.
