LPGA Q-SERIES

October 18, 2023

Laura Sluman

Mobile, Alabama, USA

Magnolia Grove

Quick Quotes

Q. So 1-under today. How are you feeling after coming off that last green?

LAURA SLUMAN: Well, after the last green I really wanted to mess up the last hole, so I was lucky to finish with a bogey because it wasn't looking good. A little frustrated with that.

Overall I played really solid the last two days, so I can't focus on that. It's just been really solid, and I just have to keep giving myself chances, and like she said, hit fairways and greens and whatever happens, happens.

Q. Two more days of golf left. How does your mindset change, does it change at all, going into the last two days?

LAURA SLUMAN: Yeah, no, it definitely gives you more confidence, because I've been hitting good shots and I know that I can do it. But you have to kind of stay in the present. You can't get ahead of yourself.

So take it one shot at a time and not think ahead and look at the leaderboard. Just do what you can.

Q. Also coming off the Epson Tour season, how has that prepared you playing solid towards the end, coming into Stage II? How are you feeling coming off the Epson Tour season with the quick turnaround? Last year it wasn't like 0this. What kind of momentum does that give you?

LAURA SLUMAN: This year was a weird year for me. I got off to a really bad start and didn't really catch my groove until the end of the season, and then I ran out of tournaments.

Just trying to build on what I learned this year and keep building that I am trending and I did find something that I'm feeling more comfortable with.

So just kind of ride it out and hopefully we have more tournaments.

Q. You talk about learning from the Epson Tour season this year. What was your biggest takeaway coming out of the season?

LAURA SLUMAN: That's a good one. I think my biggest takeaway was that I was making it harder than it needs to be and I was getting really frustrated. This week like you're not out here necessarily to win, just kind of to survive. I feel like having that mindset of just being more patient has helped me.

I think sometimes on the Epson Tour like you haven't tee'd off and you look at the leaderboard and there is already 9-under posted so you're trying to chase it. I think for me, it's key to just stay in the moment and kind of not think about the score and then the birdies will come on its own instead of trying to force them.
