NL DIVISION SERIES: DIAMONDBACKS VS DODGERS

October 10, 2023

Ryan Pepiot

Phoenix, Arizona, USA

Chase Field

Los Angeles Dodgers

Workout Day Press Conference

Q. Emmet and Bobby took their lumps in games 1 and 2. Wondering if there's anything you can draw from their first playoff experiences that might help you with yours?

RYAN PEPIOT: Obviously first postseason experience, just kind of go out there try to do your thing. Try not to read too much into it being a postseason game, just go out there and do whatever you can to put up zeros and give the team outs.

Q. How much have they sort of communicated to you that -- Dave said you're going to factor in tomorrow. Do you have any idea how that looks like? And how do you approach going into tomorrow, what they might need?

RYAN PEPIOT: Haven't really heard too much. Just was told to be ready. I'm sure I'll probably hear a little more this afternoon or tomorrow when everything goes.

But I'll be ready for whatever is asked, whenever. Just keep that same mindset whether it's starting -- obviously not starting -- but take the same mindset as if it was a start like I have in the past.

Q. Just considering how aggressive the Diamondbacks have been offensively, and obviously I'm sure you've talked a bit about the game planning before for tomorrow, but what have been kind of just your takeaways as to what you've been seeing from them from the dugout and kind of, I guess, as you prepare for your approach for tomorrow?

RYAN PEPIOT: They all seem very aggressive. We'll try to use that to our advantage tomorrow. And then just landing off-speed early, get ahead with the fastball, whatever we're seeing early on, just kind of go from there. Just kind of let the game dictate for itself.

Q. Besides just how aggressive they've been, is there anything as a staff that has surprised you about how Arizona has approached you of late?

RYAN PEPIOT: First game it seemed like they were pounding on everything, whatever was thrown up there. From the side angle everything looked pretty good, but they just looked like they were on everything.

And yesterday, watching Bobby, looked like they had some really good takes, especially on curveballs and sliders. So just going out there, try to get ahead and let them get themselves out.
