Quick Quotes
Q. You went and shot 8-under. Just tell me about your round.
KALEIGH TELFER: I went out and wasn't hitting it very well on the range, so I just came out and I had zero expectations. I just made a couple putts in the beginning and then started hitting it close, too, and everything just fell in place.
So, yeah. It was nice.
Q. Do you ever find that the best way sometimes is to just go in with no expectations and hoping for the best out here?
KALEIGH TELFER: I always have a superstition that if I hit it bad on the range I'm going to play better out there. It was obviously a good sign, yeah.
Q. I love that. What's this week been like for you so far? Obviously trying to get into that top 35 spot to go straight to Q-Series. What's the week been like? Any pressure? Just going with the flow?
KALEIGH TELFER: I think I've just been trending in the right direction. Everything started to click couple weeks ago.
I think it's just getting everything to happen all at the same time, which it did today. Obviously have a long day out there tomorrow, but, yeah, obviously I have it in the back of my mind trying to get into the top 35, but I think I'm just taking it one shot at a time.
Q. And you created that GoFundMe.
KALEIGH TELFER: Yes.
Q. Fair enough. I don't know how you all do that out here. Just being able to remove that pressure, but you kind of have a backup plan, has that been in the back of your mind at all?
KALEIGH TELFER: I mean, it was a thing that I wasn't proud of doing, but I have a great sponsor. I just needed a little extra money to take the pressure off.
Obviously getting into the top 35 they will pay for that, which will be a huge help. It's just great what the Epson Tour is doing.
Q. And I know you told Sarah that you were going to go see Ash Buhai.
KALEIGH TELFER: Yes.
Q. I love that, first of all.
KALEIGH TELFER: Yeah.
Q. What's the plan? Just going to hang out? What are you all going to do?
KALEIGH TELFER: We actually have the same coach now. I've been working with him for a year, so I'm going to go down there, work with him, and just hang out. I'll be ready for a break after that.
Q. What have you and Doug been working on specifically? Anything you seen pay off out here?
KALEIGH TELFER: I had a big swing change Q-School last year, which wasn't a good time for me, but there is no good time in golf. He said, just be patient, and it's finally paying off.
Once the putts start to drop everything will fall into place.
Q. You birdied half the holes out there today. Was it ball striking that helped or rolling the rock pretty well?
KALEIGH TELFER: A little bit of both. Probably hit three or four to tap-in, and then the rest I was just making 10-, 15-footers, so a little bit of both.
Q. Tap-in ranges, wedges, long irons?
KALEIGH TELFER: Wedges have been really good this week. I feel very comfortable over my wedges and feel like I can hit it within ten feet every time, so I think that's just a confidence thing.
Q. Have you talked to Ash at all? Obviously playing this great golf and she might text you today, never know. Have you and her chatted ahead of this week or this season where it's motivated you?
KALEIGH TELFER: We text every now and again. We'll just congratulate each other and stuff. I don't think she'll text me today. We are both very superstitious. She's let me be, and hopefully we'll be able to celebrate this weekend, or tomorrow.
Q. What are some of your other superstitions? If you can not be superstitious and share them I guess I should say.
KALEIGH TELFER: I have way too many to name. I play the number of golf ball of what day it is. Then I always have to tie my left shoelace before my right shoelace. Weird stuff.
Q. Anything pre-shot that have to do every time?
KALEIGH TELFER: No. If I'm putting well I'll always use the same marker. If I start missing putts I'll change it up midway round.
Q. Have to ask the question, in a really good position heading into tomorrow. What's the mindset? You've got really nothing to lose at this point. What would it mean to get a win out here on the Epson Tour, first professional win?
KALEIGH TELFER: I'm trying not to think that far ahead. Obviously it would be -- it's a dream and I've been working towards to the whole year. For it to come at such a clutch time would be huge.
