Quick Quotes
Q. All right, I'm here with Robyn Choi after her third round at the Epson Tour Championship. Looked like kind of a bit of a grind out there today. Can you just walk me through your round and how your game was feeling today?
ROBYN CHOI: Yeah, it was definitely a grind today. I mean, I felt like -- I was putting it better than the last two days, but it wasn't really dropping in and my shots weren't as on as the last few days.
So I think that's where I was kind of like grinding it out.
But no, luckily my chipping was there a little bit so I didn't make as many bogeys. I think I made one today.
Yeah, no, otherwise like, I mean, yeah, it's golf. (Laughter.) I don't have much to say about that.
Q. Yes, it is golf. And looking back at your season thus far, what has it been like this year just going tournament to tournament?
ROBYN CHOI: I mean, like, I don't know, like when I was playing I was kind of focusing one tournament at a time. I'm happy that I haven't missed a cut this year. Honestly, like I think I got into the top 10 like last week which was my first time playing on this tour, so I that's a pretty big accomplishment.
Just the opportunity to have a chance to be in the top -- finish in the top 10 for the season, get my card, I think that's big. Hopefully that's what will happen. We'll see how it goes tomorrow.
Q. A lot of things to be proud of this year. Like you mentioned, too, being on that bubble, any thoughts going into tomorrow? Maybe more aggressive thoughts or what you're thinking?
ROBYN CHOI: I don't know. Like I think -- I don't think playing like too differently will make it any better. I think I'll stick to my game. If there is shots that I have to pull off, then I'm going to have to do it, but going to try not putting myself in that situation.
I'm going to just, you know, just play it depending on what the situation is. Yeah, I'm not going to try forcing myself to do anything crazy, a super hero or anything like that.
Q. Skipping ahead, what would that mean, to get in the top 10?
ROBYN CHOI: In the top 10? I mean...
Q. Loaded question I know.
ROBYN CHOI: No, I think -- I don't know, it's just kind of something that we've all been trying to get from the beginning the year, and also the last few years. I had my card a few years ago, but that was through Q-School; didn't have a lot of status.
So I think it'll be different to have like a full season on the LPGA, and I think that's just what we really wanted to do out here for the whole year. I think it'll mean a lot.
Q. Being in the top 35 as well with the entry fee being covered by Epson, what does that mean to go to Q-Series and know that could be paid for?
ROBYN CHOI: That helps a lot, especially like Q-School is a lot of money. Not just the entry fee. You're going to have to pay for accommodation, food, caddies, a lot of things on top of that.
When Epson said they were going to help with the entry fee it was a sigh of relief. I mean, I don't really want to go to Q-School, but if I have to, it's going to help us a lot.
Especially we're not playing for a lot of money out here, so 2,500 means like a top 15 out here, and that's a lot of the money.
Q. Huge.
ROBYN CHOI: Uh-huh.
Q. One last question from me. Your mom was your caddie today.
ROBYN CHOI: Uh-huh.
Q. What does it mean to have her with you and walk with you on the fairways out here?
ROBYN CHOI: I mean, she was out here for the whole season pretty much this year. She's a big support. I mean, you know, just like when I'm not really feeling it, she like pulls me up. She is like kind of more on the positive side, so just kind of is like pushing me, let's do this kind of thing.
Like stops me from getting too loose. No, she's a big help out here just being on the bag. Even though she didn't like do many club selection or anything, but just having her, like the presence is big, yeah.
