Quick Quotes
Q. Opening round 65, bogey-free out there on the Old Course?
WILCO NIENABER: It was lovely. It was pretty solid. I had a couple of long putts that I had good lag putts, and on these greens, that's really important.
But I'm really happy with the way I played as well. The rain was on and off and a little annoying at some stages. But yeah, all in all very happy.
Q. Every time I see you at a tournament, you're putting in the hours. What is it you are working on your game so much and that's paying off this week?
WILCO NIENABER: It's not big things I'm working on. It's just the small little things that need to become a little better, and that's what I'm doing. I'm trying to hit it closer to the hole from shorter distances, and then obviously putting I'm working on at the moment.
It looks like it's paying off but I think it's more about staying patient at the moment.
Q. I did see you at the British Challenge doing some putting drills where you wouldn't let yourself get off the putting green until you made a complete circle all the way around and you wouldn't let yourself go.
WILCO NIENABER: Yeah, that was -- I was actually rooming with Brandon Stone that week, and he challenged me for the week. I hated it but I finished it, and yeah, that was the whole bit.
Q. You capitalised today, Carnoustie tomorrow, a bit of sunshine and obviously a bit of wind but potentially a day to capitalise on Carnoustie given the luck of the draw, hopefully?
WILCO NIENABER: Honestly I don't look at the weather. I wake up go there with my whole wardrobe almost and see what it's like. Yeah, I hope for more of the same to tomorrow.
