THE MODERATOR: We will go directly to questions.

Q. The irony is that we've spoken a lot this week about how difficult it is to hold serve on these courts. Tonight you didn't get broke even once. Was this a match that came down to the fine margins in the end?

DANIIL MEDVEDEV: Yeah, as I said yesterday, for whatever reason the evening plays much faster. Yesterday was also the case. I didn't lose my serve yesterday. I don't know why, but both yesterday and today was pretty fast conditions.

He served well. I served well. Came down to the tiebreaks where he was much better than me. 1 and 2, I should have done better. That's unfortunately how tennis can be.

I hope that next time if I have to play two tiebreaks in the final I can win it. That's the only way forward. I need to try to do better next time when I have a tiebreak in the final. Not much I can add to this.

Q. You won 20 titles from different cities. Can it be a motivation for you to come back to China Open?

DANIIL MEDVEDEV: 100%. The thing is that I hope, because this year I play four more tournaments, and all of them I won, so I hope I can break this thing, win one of them. I would be very happy.

Still, as I said just yesterday, every tournament on hard court, not only on hard court but especially on hard court, that I didn't win would be happy to try to get it in my career.

I love it here in Beijing. It's a great tournament. I love it in China. Probably going to be back and looking forward to it.

Q. I wanted to try and dig a bit deeper into what you felt what went wrong for you in those tiebreaks. Especially the first tiebreak, Jannik really took a commanding lead early on. Was it down to that little bit of luck of things going his way or a bit of added pressure?

DANIIL MEDVEDEV: I think luck. When I say 'luck', not luck itself, like he got lucky in these points. In a way luck that he managed to hold his emotion, control his emotions better in these tiebreaks, not make mistakes probably at all I guess. I made some easy ones. He served better in these tiebreaks. So he made all the shots and played better tennis.

At the same time, as I say, coming after the match I'm, like, okay, if I want to improve, what do I have to do better? Well, serve better during the tiebreak, play better during the tiebreak, hit some better shots.

In a way it's luck, but also experience and stuff like this. That's why he won. So that's why I say the only thing I can do better is next time get out there on the tiebreak, hit aces, winners, and try to win with the same score he did.

Q. This is the first time you play here in Beijing. We all can see you love Beijing. The fans love you back. Most of the fans stayed through the ceremony, showed support to you. Could you share more information about the affection with the fans here.

DANIIL MEDVEDEV: Yeah, I loved it here in Beijing. As I say, probably every tournament I played, and I played two challengers in China before playing ATPs, fans are really nice, really nice. They're supportive, but in a way calm. When we practice, a lot of people watching, but they don't go crazy while you're practicing. After they ask for an autograph. Really respectful. I would say calm but good support.

I loved it here. As I said in the beginning of the tournament, the only tough part is that, because I went so far, I didn't really have time to see Beijing. It's most iconic places. That's why I will come back. Who knows, maybe come back a little bit earlier before the tournament, or come back and if for whatever reason it doesn't go well, have time. So, yeah, definitely will be back one day.

Q. Next you will come to Shanghai to continue your Asia journey. What are your expectations? Are you a little bit tired?

DANIIL MEDVEDEV: I think everyone is a little bit tired. It's the end of the season. I myself know that when I'm in this kind of shape, like playing finals, playing good, better not to lose it. I'm going to come there, try to do my best. I think the balls are different. I don't know if the courts are different. For sure need time to adapt.

I actually didn't see the draw. Do you know, guys, who I play? No. I will watch it just now (smiling).

Yeah, I'm in good shape now. Even again today, the match was good, was good tennis. Had to do better if I wanted to win, but it was good tennis. I want to continue playing good this season. It's not over. A lot of points to try to gain.

Going to Shanghai to show my best and hopefully I can do it.
