Q. Initial thoughts when Stacy told you you guys were playing together.

MEGAN KHANG: That was new.

LEXI THOMPSON: It was quite last minute.

MEGAN KHANG: It was quite last minute, but I think she knew that we would have no problem playing together and we had fun out there.

Q. What was it about the pairing that really worked out today? What were strengths of each of you that you brought to your win today?

LEXI THOMPSON: I think, honestly, we both just played really solid golf on both sides. She had so many amazing iron shots and gave me looks for birdies, and I just tried to get her down there as far as I could.

MEGAN KHANG: She smacked the ball so far down. I had some numbers that I didn't even have in the book. I was like, wow, this is different.

LEXI THOMPSON: Our personalities just worked.

Q. Biggest moment of the day for you guys, the one that made the match?

MEGAN KHANG: Made the match? Right off the gate, Lexi, first three holes coming in with a win and then --

LEXI THOMPSON: I knew we won the first three, but --

MEGAN KHANG: -- 18.

LEXI THOMPSON: She hit it close on 2, gave me a little birdie putt there and gave her a look on 3 and won the hole.

MEGAN KHANG: I think what really got us going back on track, though, was 15, smoked a drive. I was, like, okay --

LEXI THOMPSON: She just stuck, whatever, her iron was.

MEGAN KHANG: -- have a 5-iron into this hole versus a hybrid, so let's give her a good one.

Q. What have you seen over the last month that's got your ball striking in such a great place?

LEXI THOMPSON: I've been working really hard on it, nothing in particular. I've been working on the right things.

Q. Off to a quick start winning your first three holes. What did you two say to each other to begin this day? What was your strategy?

MEGAN KHANG: Lexi said, play hard, play to win, and we kept on. It was awesome out there. Lexi crushed her drive and that was it.

LEXI THOMPSON: She hit it really close.

MEGAN KHANG: Left me a lot of shorter clubs in today.

Q. Stacy put you in a big spot saying that she felt like you earned it, getting to hit the very first tee shot this morning. What was that experience like?

LEXI THOMPSON: It means a lot to me, first off, to just be able to hit the first tee shot out there. I kind of live through this tournament. It's my favorite one of all time. I love representing my country and to be alongside my partner and my team and playing under Stacy, it's incredible.

Q. Stacy put a ton of research into putting you two together. What do you think it was that led to your success today?

MEGAN KHANG: Honestly, Lexi is a great player (background noise). Go USA. (Laughing.)

LEXI THOMPSON: Yeah, we work really well together and it was definitely a great win. We played some good golf and we knew that we had to come out swinging and play hard and out here supporting our teammates now.

Q. Are you going to stay out and watch all the groups coming in?

LEXI THOMPSON: We might grab a quick bite to eat first. We're starving, but we want to support our teammates for a hole or two.

Q. How was it to hit the first tee shot this more morning?

LEXI THOMPSON: It was amazing. Huge honor just to be able to be here and represent my country, but to be able to hit the first tee ball alongside Megan, it was a lot of fun. It's nothing but an honor.
