Quick Quotes
Q. Wentworth, a massive week for you on the back of another very big week. What's it like coming back to Wentworth as defending champion?
SHANE LOWRY: It's great. I've always loved coming here and to come back here as defending champion, it's a tournament that you always want to win as a European golfer. You know, it's one that's kind of on your list at the start of every year that you definitely want to play and in, and you want to try and win. It's great and I'm looking forward to the week ahead.
It was a good week last week in Ireland and I'm hoping for another good week this week and looking forward to it.
Q. Last year, Jon Rahm and Rory were chasing you. What stands out most about that win?
SHANE LOWRY: Just how calm I was coming down the back nine. I felt like I got myself in position and I've got what it takes to do it against the best in the world. It was exciting to do that and it was exciting to do that. Had a few of my friends here and I remember we had a great week the last time, and like I said, I always love coming here. It's one of my favourite places in the world, and yeah, last week was an exciting week and exciting month ahead.
Q. You made a pit stop at Marco Simone on the way here from Dublin. What was that like?
SHANE LOWRY: It was great. I think it was great to get together for the lads. Everybody was there, all the players, all the caddies, all the vice captains, and obviously Luke as well, a few staff from the Tour, and we got some very worthwhile stuff done.
Yeah, it just kind of gets the juices flowing and you kind of need to bring yourself back down-to-earth over these next couple days and get ready to play a tournament before we go there in a couple weeks. We all need to focus on playing well this week and from the start of next week.
Q. I know you started WhatsApp messages last week, but given you have a new dynamic and younger blood, what's it like having those other 11 guys with you?
SHANE LOWRY: Great. Like I'm one of the older lads on the team which makes me feel -- I don't know how it makes me typically to be honest.
But you're sitting around there last night, and you look around and the young players and how good they are and you look at guys like Vincent Norrman who won last week and you look at the way European golf is, you want to make sure that you work as hard as you can and play as hard as you can if you want to play in more of these. Gives a bit of fuel for my fire. Yeah, it's an amazing team to be a part of and hopefully a very successful one.
