Quick Quotes
Q. Looked like a battle out there today. Can you walk us through your round?
PEIYUN CHIEN: I feel today I didn't start very well. When I started, the wind is already pretty windy. It's a tough day for me, but I think I still did pretty well in the last group.
Q. Making the turn at 3-over, was there anything you were trying to remind yourself as you headed into that back nine?
PEIYUN CHIEN: Yeah, my start I was already 2-over, so I'm still thinking back nine has a lot of birdie chances I can make. Just stay patient and just trust yourself, play the best I can do.
Q. You held the 36-hole lead yesterday for the first time in your career. Did you think about that at all? Did you feel any pressure holding the lead?
PEIYUN CHIEN: Today? Yes, definitely for sure.
Q. You felt pressure? Why?
PEIYUN CHIEN: Because I know everybody can shoot 6 or 4-under pretty easy on this course, and I feel pressure if I didn't play well. I always play bad in the leader group, but I tried to just find my tempo on the course. I think I did very well today.
Q. You had a couple bogeys. How happy are you to fight back from those?
PEIYUN CHIEN: Definitely very important to me because I can trust myself better, trust myself that I can win on the LPGA for sure. Just need to stay patient and play every shot I can do and talk clear the carry to my caddie and commit every shot. I think I can do it for sure. I want to do it in my life.
Q. Does it give you confidence knowing that yesterday you shot a career low round, just yesterday? Does it give you confidence that you did that yesterday?
PEIYUN CHIEN: Yes. Let me think when I played the Epson Tour because I didn't think of score or ranking, I just played, because on Epson you have to fight every single shot, the best you can do. I think about the Epson, that feeling that I should just keep doing, just don't think the result.
Q. The course conditions seemed to be different today. Can you just talk about the differences you saw today compared to the first two rounds?
PEIYUN CHIEN: Definitely it's tougher because the wind when I played, it already start. The greens getting firmer. I have a lot of shots because I didn't think very clear my carry.
Just over the green, it's hard up-and-down.
Q. Was there a certain point in your round you noticed you kept going over the green and you had to adjust? Was that during the front nine?
PEIYUN CHIEN: Yes. Back nine I think -- because here par-5s we have a lot of chance, so I still have chances to make birdies, and I shot under par.
Q. What were your thoughts on No. 7 and No. 10 being drivable today?
PEIYUN CHIEN: I just feel I'm getting hungry. I need to eat something.
Q. What's your mindset headed into tomorrow being near the top of the leaderboard once again?
PEIYUN CHIEN: The irons I have to play safer because I'm a little aggressive today, and I went to the short side a lot. Just make some chance, give to me a lot of birdie chances, and I think the putting speed is very important here, so just give me some chance and putting.
