KROGER QUEEN CITY CHAMPIONSHIP PRESENTED BY P&G

September 9, 2023

Morgane Metraux

Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

Kenwood Country Club

Quick Quotes

Q. Here with Morgane Metraux after her third round at the Kroger Queen City Championship. It's been an up-and-down day for everybody here. Can you describe what made the course so difficult today?

MORGANE METRAUX: Yeah, so it's been a lot more windy today, which really baked the greens and the fairways, so it's been really difficult to judge the bounce, and it made the greens faster, too, so any putts down the hill were getting pretty slick. I think that's the biggest difference.

Q. With a couple bogeys right off the bat, how did you mentally turn around from that and be able to put together at the end of the day a good round?

MORGANE METRAUX: Yeah, so the first hole played really well, so I knew that bogey was actually not losing shots to most of the field. Then on 2, I just hit my lay-up shot into the rough, which eventually made me bogey that hole. But both putts on there, I didn't make them within 10 feet, but I knew I hit my spot, I just misread them.

I knew if I kept going the same way, they would eventually drop, and that happened.

Q. On the back nine, I see five birdies. When you were making the turn, what was sort of the conversation you had with your caddie, with yourself that sort of turned you around to be able to go on that birdie streak?

MORGANE METRAUX: I just jokingly said, let's just make it easier on ourselves on the back nine. I knew the 10th hole was reachable from the tee, so I knew I could get one back there, which I did, and that kind of started the streak. I hit a good shot on 11, which was a tough win, so it was a good par.

Just I don't know, I hit a few really good shots in a row and made a few putts, and it was just really solid. I didn't quite hit all my spots on the front nine, and then I did on the back nine, and a few more putts dropped.

Q. What are your expectations going into tomorrow playing one group back, either expectations for yourself or about the course? Is it going to still be so difficult, do you know?

MORGANE METRAUX: Yeah, I'm sure it'll be firm still. I didn't check what the wind is going to be like. It's been different direction every day, so it's going to be interesting to see what it is tomorrow.

But honestly, just keep the same game plan, just stay out of the bunkers off the tee, lay up when I have to, and just hopefully make some more putts.

I try not to have expectations, just go out there and do my best, and hopefully this time start it a little better.
