Q. Incredible second round here at The K Club, 65, three eagles on the card. How do you summarize today's round?

CALUM HILL: Very good golf. Didn't know where it was going when I started, and you throw in a few eagles and things get a bit brighter. It was good.

Q. 2-under on the par 5s but what happened on 9?

CALUM HILL: 9 hit a really good drive down left side and had 123 yards, 125 yards, one of those, and slightly pulled my 50 degree. Didn't catch it quite like I wanted and then there was a roar. A bit of good fortune, I think.

Q. When you went out, you were seeing the big numbers Shubhankar was making, going out in 28. Did that give you a bit of a surprise knowing what he was doing around this course?

CALUM HILL: Yes, but I personally don't see that kind of score. Like today I surprised myself. I remember in the practice round thinking par would be a good score around this place. The rough is so brutal and it's quite demanding off the tee and when you're out of position it makes it much more difficult. Yeah, pleasantly surprised.

Q. You're only three off the leaders. What do you need to do so this time tomorrow you're right there in contention?

CALUM HILL: Have a few more eagles, I think, and see how that does.
