Quick Quotes
Q. All right, Gina, overall a nice final round here. Solid performance. Overall how are you walking away from this fourth round?
GINA KIM: Yeah, I'm feeling really confident. I feel like I'm in a good spot with my game finally, you know, but better late than never.
I'm just really proud of myself for sticking it through and just staying committed to the routine regardless of what the situation was.
So there is a lot of positives to take from this week, and hopefully I can take this and keep the momentum going in Cincinnati.
Q. You had a nice eagle on the card there, especially after the first couple holes. Just what was working so well on that par-5?
GINA KIM: You know what? I had the tree in front of me on the left side, so I told my caddie, you know, I'm going to draw it around it and we'll see what happens.
It turned out to be perfect. I executed exactly the way I envisioned it, and the putter got hot from that moment forward.
So having one of those eagle putts fall in definitely gave me a boost of confidence, and I think that's what set the tone for me today.
Q. What was it about this course this week that you felt everything was kind of clicking on all cylinders for you?
GINA KIM: You know, starting from last week I really liked the look of the course. I liked the layout. I like it when it's narrow, when it's tough, helping me focus on the smaller targets.
Obviously this course didn't reflect how I felt last week, but I came into this week saying, you know, I still feel great. I still like how the course is looking. Everything is pure, greens are rolling pure.
If I stick to my routine maybe it will pay off and it did.
Q. You talked about taking the positives into Cincinnati next week. What are some takeaways you learned about your game as you head into next week?
GINA KIM: You know, I think this week I learned to be okay with mistakes, as crazy as it sounds.
I mean, I chunked my drive on No. 10 and still came out with a birdie. It made me realize that golf is really truly a funny game, and just staying patient and staying positive and constantly believing in myself, I think those were the main takeaways for me and it worked out well.
